My 1983 RX-7 for only $800!

Well, I bought my first RX7 about three weeks ago. Only $800 and it ran! I changed the spark plugs and put a new air filter in it.
It has a dent and some scratches. Had to take it to a friend to get it timed correctly because the timing was WAY off! 153k on the odo.
Here are some pictures, just wondering how good of a deal I got for only $800 dollars.

Not bad man. I got my second one for 120.00. Got to the house and needed a fuel pump. I put some gas in the carb and it fired right up. I have a parts car so if u need some parts send me a pm.

not bad....any running car for less than $1000 is a good deal. I paid $500 for mine. Best thing I ever did and it will be a process and you'll learn to address your car differently than you did any other car. Like the above said, READ UP ON THIS CAR!!! it is different and you'll end up asking alot of questions. Read first then ask. I looked like an idiot for months before i figured that out.
Next clean it up! A well done wax job will make all the difference in the world. GoodLuck and Nice find!

you got a really good deal!! the best thing about western cars is that there is usually virtually no rust!! any story behind the car? how did you aquire it? how is it running now?

Awesome!! I'm currently stripping a 1982 and have loads of extra parts...I could probably hook you up with some small stuff...Like the vents...the glove box...that little cover that goes on the door handle...pm me when you are ready to start looking for that kind of stuff! :icon_tup:

Well, the way I found it was I needed a car to get from work and back since a 4-door V8 dodge ram isnt very fuel efficient :P.
At first I was looking at a 93 Honda Prelude.. I called the guy for about 2 weeks about it, he never answered so I gave up.
I got to talking to my brother in law, and he had just bought a monte carlo for approx. $1000.
He showed me where he bought it from and I saw the RX7, only $800 and it ran.
Interior was shitty and a dent and scratch on the front lh and rh fenders. I guess they didnt know much about it and no one wanted it because it had been sitting there for about 2 months. (Bought it from a small mechanic who sells cars but not like a car lot). I didnt know much about it either, but I liked what I saw. Drove it home, died twice on the way there. Battery was always dead because how many times it had to turn over to start.
Called my uncle, he came over and took a look at it. First we took the air filter off, sprayed carb fuel in the carb, started up real easy, but w/out the air filter off and carb fuel being sprayed in it, it was hard as hell to start. Replaced all four plugs, checked them for spark. Spark was good. Now was time for compression test and timing check. I had a friend time it, WOW, that was exactly what it needed, it starts right up now, and runs REALLY well. The only problem I really want to deal with now is checking and replacing the brake pads/discs or w/e it has. I have to press the brake close to the floorboard for it to start to slow down. The other thing is when I go into reverse, it tends to make a grindy noise even though I have the clutch all the way to the floor.
After Christmas I'll be able to save up my checks and (from previous post above) enjoy the money pit that is a 7 :D
