Ahhhhh,,,, the mythical MSF racing hubs... how did you manage to get them? MSF are fairly local to me and I have contacted them a number of times over the years over a number of serious inquiries to make purchases of a number of their products and have never had ONE single response. Do you have to be a Mason or something?

GSLSEforme 03-22-19 05:52 PM

Wow! They’re the tits!
Merry Christmas to you.

mikey D 03-22-19 06:28 PM

I simply emailed them. Marcus was very responsive to my questions. The only thing I couldn't get him to answer is what bearings he was using. That's why the bearings part number pics. Both are readily available and cheap.
cheap.

mikey D 03-22-19 06:30 PM

Also note, the bag their sitting on was the sealed bag the hub came in! I was surprised they were packaged so well.

84rtaryrcket 03-22-19 06:40 PM

Was it expensive to get shipped to the states

cheap.

I have emailed, and called them on the phone a number of times, and have never been answered! Similar story with others I've spoken to. Im glad you got through though! Maybe they arnt as busy as they used to be.. I wonder why?

mikey D 03-22-19 09:03 PM

Shipping was reasonably cheap. Just under 100 USD.

mikey D 03-22-19 09:14 PM

It's a tricky thing to run a shop like this. Their usually small and some guy like me posts cool parts and they suddenly get bombarded. I bet less than 1/4 the people asking questions turn into sales and knowing that takes care of regulars and ends up pissing off the rest.

KansasCityREPU 03-22-19 09:17 PM

So these hubs are $1129.56 US + shipping

Yeah, i dare say they would have had their regulars, all the IPRA boys over here, which kinda is like the Masonic Lodge lol, and any inquiries by someone they don't know or isnt racing competitively gets arseholed. Well there are fewer and fewer rotaries in IPRA these days, and I'm guessing he must have liked the cut of your jib with your race car and all. The least he could have done with me would be to get back to me eventually and tell me there is a backlist and a long wait. I had cash in hand on multiple occasions for parts on his site, nothin custom or fancy or one off, and i wasnt asking dumb questions either, it was like, " hi, my name is blah blahblah, can i please order one of these?"
Anyways, congrats on your purchase, it looks nice!

Sounds about right. They have cheaper options but I figured why the hell not, I'll probably have this car till I die unless it dies first.

How long did it take to arrive?

I ordered the cheaper hubs a long while ago. He was quick to respond for a quote and let me know when the payment didn't go through, but I've not received a response when I asked for update a couple of times.
From web searches I knew he can take a long time being a one man operation.

mikey D 03-23-19 07:52 PM

About 30 days after I paid him. I got shipping info about a 15 days after paying ( i had to ask him) and the items arrived about 15 after that.

mikey D 04-29-19 07:40 PM

Update, the sleeves don't fit series 3 Stubs.
Marcus says there is only one sleeve size So I have to machine my stock stubs to use his stub sleeves.
I'm not thrilled as there was never a mention of this and it adds extra cost to an already expensive part

j_tso 04-29-19 08:32 PM

Is it supposed to fit S1-S2 spindles? I thought the inner bearing was the same, unless it's getting caught on the outer end.

mikey D 04-29-19 08:41 PM

Hard to say where it's cathing. I'm just grumpy about it right now and haven't put much thought into it

mikey D 04-29-19 09:04 PM

Finger one bumps into finger 2..

t_g_farrell 04-30-19 08:28 AM

Definitely looks like its designed for series 1 or 2 stubs. Those series 3 stubs look huge compared to my SA. Nice parts!

mikey D 04-30-19 11:06 AM

Im not really sure if i should be pissed off or just accept it for what it is and machine the parts and move on.

Probably option 2 is easier.

KYPREO 04-30-19 09:18 PM

Sorry to hear about this. Unfortunately, this is not to surprising from this shop, not appreciating the difference between the stub axles. I've seen first hand hubs from them where the machining was far off that the entire hub could be moved fore and aft on the axle.

Given the hassle of complaints and shipping, I think the best option is to machine the parts and move on.

mikey D 04-30-19 10:21 PM

I may just do a chargeback if he doesn’t want to get me the right parts. If i have someone machine my spindles to fit his and something is wrong with his stuff then i just screwed up 2k if front suspension parts.

mikey D 05-19-19 09:16 AM

Got the right parts finally and everything seems to fit together properly.

I still think this is a case of a small shop that isn't great with time management and communication. I don't think Marcus is trying to rip people off, though the lack of communication easily makes you think that. I would probably do business with Marcus again with the expectation that it may be 6 months before I receive what I ordered.

Kenku 05-24-19 11:38 AM

Ohh, I see what they're doing. Might have to clone that.

mustanghammer 05-26-19 10:31 AM

Makes me think they make them primarily for the earlier spindle because there are more of them out there. 1979-1983 vs 84-85.

Once they are on, did you have them welded in place?
