Miss my 7
On week 9 in the shop now, what started off as a carb needing to be rebuilt is now up to "well it idles fine, but we can't get it to spool up now". on the plus side, there will certainly be some added lightness to my car when/if it ever gets out of the shop, with a 5 hour walk to and from work . What's the longest you've had to go without your 7 and why?
|
so is your FB turbocharged? and if so, why can't they get it to spool up? sounds like the shop doesnt know much about working on a rotary engine.. if i were you i'd get the car home and do the work myself..of course, i do all of my own work and am extremely biased on this matter. i havent been without a 7 for 12 years..

Mine has been parked for a year because I'm lazy and don't feel like pulling the engine and fixing a couple little things.
|
no, SA with the stock engine, they were just saying spool up instead of rev for some reason o.0 I tried doing my own work on it, but failed at rebuilding the carb and figured that sending it to a shop would be faster, apparently I was mistaken.
|
Thats why I do all my own work. I worked at a shop in 03-08 some of the things I saw them do to customers made me cringe.

It's probably flooded, so they'll check the compression and find that it has none. Then the next step is to call you and tell you that you need a new motor. They'll probably offer to hook you up for around 4 grand.
Never take a rotary to a mechanic.... :( . |
The only time my 7 ever goes to a shop is to get it's yearly ticket and normally involves 3 days of arguements about the emissions as over here a pre 86 rotary needs visual only so when they put it on the CO tester and it bends the needle they're like FAAAAAIIIIIL. Then they ring and say 'don't worry we'll lean it out' at which point I pay a visit. This happens every year without fail and regardless of which shop it goes to.
