Message Board Question: When and how do posts get purged?

Over a year ago, my seven started a long slow slog to decrepitness. I've been trying to get her up and running again by going backwards through all my problems (wiring being the most immediate one) My next repair after fixing the short (and probably burnt out alternator... but maybe it's just faulty wiring!) is to fix a non firing issue on the forward rotor (Trailing or Lead, I don’t remember, it was one or the other).

I had posted about this problem when it first happened a year ago, and got some good responses and good ideas to follow up on, but my seven finished dying before I got around to doing anything. Now that I'm ready to work, I thought I'd look up the old thread I posted, but I can't find it... it's gone.

I searched for every post I've made (Not hard to do since I'm not much of a presence here.) I couldn't find it in the logs. Maybe it was under a different user name if I couldn't figure out the password for this one while I was out in Illinois (where my seven died) but just today I noticed I have a "new" private message offering to sell my an igniter if that turns out to be my problem. It's dated 10-01-07

With a more exact date, I tried searching for "igniter", and found nothing having to do with my posting. I'm just wondering what happened to my post. It was very helpful to me, and I don't want to clutter up the message board again with my problems.

I guess I'm just curious as to why it's gone, lots of my other older posts are still around, so why did that one go?

An Ideas?

ive been on here since 2000, and the whole contents were lost (along with chuck!) , a couple times in hacks.

also since the new owners aquired the site about a year ago, they have been purging threads, there was one in particular about egt's that had a big fight, but was very informative, that is now gone.

i can see purging some of the BS fighting threads (anyone remember the novel sized jimlabreck vs batman?). and unfortunately it appears that some other stuff is getting lost in the shuffle.
