Thanks guys. I'm excited too.

I can't wait to get it back and feel the thrust of a turbo charged rotary again. I want to take some pictures with the Mini Cooper S, the 335, and the FB all together.

So, Dave emailed me today and asked if I wanted the mirrors and door handles painted black like the trim or silver with the rest of the car.

I was a little confused by that and had a hard time visualizing that so I told him to do it silver.

Any thoughts?

Well, went color matched. The door handle I thought for sure should be color matched. I was a little more confused by the mirrors. I googled some images and saw them both ways. I ended up going painted.

I guess if I don't like them, I can always get them changed back to black.

If anyone has any input on a turbo upgrade, plese input your opinion here:

Some pictures of a color matched one I found. Not a WB and not the right color, but you get the idea:

New turbo on order... GT35R

So, the evil power bug but again and I have to keep my RX-7 faster than my 335.

So, today I ordered a GT35R ball bearing turbo. I sould be putting down a little over 400 at the wheels.

Hopefully the turbo comes in this week, the test panels on the car get shot (and the color approved), and I can get this thing done and back on the street.

On a side note, I refinishing the BBS RS wheels shown on an earlier page of this build. I'm not sure if I should refinish them in the original silver with the polished barrel, or if black mesh with the polished barrel would look better against the titanium grey.

Any comments or suggestions?

I'd say the silver would look better with the ti grey. Hard to say without seeing a good shot of the car though. If I were you I'd wait until the car is finished being painted then judge from there.

Well, first the depressing news:

My car looks just like it did in the pictures above. The paint that arrived was wrong and Dave had been trying to source the correct paint. The new paint is slated to arrive Monday.

The good news is that I took this chance to do some other upgrades to the car. I dropped off the GT35R (1.06) along with a Profec b II and I am upgrading my exhaust from 2.5" to 3". I should once all is said and done, I should be over 400whp but I will post actual dyno graphs here once I have them.

I also decided to go with a satin black interior when refinishing my BBS RS wheels. I think it will look good with the orange hardware and polished lip on a silver/grey car. I will drop them off next Saturday at Ye Ole Wheel shop in MD (one is already there for repair).

For those of you who don't remember what the wheels look like:

I also sourced the center nuts and mesh as well at BBS logo caps that are on their way from Germany. I went with the black chrome BBS logo.

Wheels are finished and I couldn't be happier!

I found the mesh centers and hex nuts on the beemer forum (where I am also a member) and the the BBS black/chrome center caps from Germany (I can't do fakes).

The wheels and the centers were brought down to Ye Ole Wheel Shop in MD. Center mesh was done in satin black with a polished lip and hex nut. They painted the inside of the wheel too so that it looks OEM

All I can say is that they came out beautifully and I could not be happier. Although these wheels probably ended up costing me close to what new wheels would have cost, these are period correct and will maintain their value.

Black, orange, and polished aluminum--it is a beautiful thing!

I will snap and post some pictures this weekend.

Now, if only the bodyshop would finish my car and instal the GT35R...

Shameless self-bump

Looks Good, Looks time period correct.
I've always wasted BBS-RS1's for my car, just with a deep *** dish.

Yeah, I thought of going the deep dish route. It just looks a little too cartoonish on first gens IMHO.

I think deep dish looks much better on BMWs and I save it for them.
