Leather Sport model is nearing completion
well, the LS model is nearing completion. i started building it three days ago. the kit is made by monogram. i am trying to build it as identical as i can build to my 1980 Leather Sport as possible. i had to custom mix the paint to get it as close as i could. i need to get my browns for the interior and paint that and the dash. once i do that i can put the body on the completed interior and then finish my engine bay wiring. i'll get better hi res pics when i'm finished. my wife left my camera at her sisters house and all i have is my phone. here are the pics thus far:

Haha awesome. I knew you had a LS, and totally expected a thread about you restoring it.... are those kits still available? Would be cool to get one!

http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...f/DSC06377.jpg i really do try and take my time and get into good detail with the models that i build. i guess it helps develop my patience, lol. |
i should have better pics up tomorrow or wednesday. this is next on my list to build: http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...f/DSC06378.jpg

duh, nice but where's the car?
That's a real nice SA, I can see where you got the idea for the model details, but I was kind of curious about the finished model, it is looking like it could be really neat with all that detail.
Incidentally, if you want to get rid of that fading on the upper edge of your black side molding you can wash it using a green scrub pad to get rid of any surface dirt, let it dry thoroughly and then use a cloth to apply a thin layer of vasoline - they will look like new. |
thanks for the advice Ray!! i havent finished the model yet. i'm still working on the interior. i will post pics when i finish the interior, which should be in the next couple of days.
also do i see some rust behind the rear wheel on passenger side?
I like the blue model, might have to look around the net for that one, very cool.. That actual LS you have is in awesome shape too, you keep it pretty clean man!
i try and keep the car as clean as i can. it does have a couple of small rust spots. the car originally came from NY.
Looks like the tail pipes are pretty rusted thru too LOL
the muffler's tips are utterly WASTED. the plan is to order a new RB muffler in april.
I have an RB muffler for the SA sitting in my basement that I wont use. It would need to be welded or have a flange welded back on though
pm me your asking price.
but then it wolnt be stock!!! ghasp!!
i cant find an oem muffler for it and i refuse to buy cheap aftermarket crap that will rot through in six months. i feel a rb muffler will be the best alternative at this point.
RB looks very OE anyway and it sounds better. Hey firebirdslayer is that my muffler your selling him? Would be cool to know my muffler made its way to a rare FB ;)
i have my OEM muffler sitting pretty in my garage! btw i put the RB setup on my car while i clean up some bits under the hood.
