info on my SK Racing carb?

I finally had a moment to look under the hood of my newly purchased '83 gsl. My 12a has a side draft SK Racing carburetor. It looks cool, and drives very nice. I have never heard of this carb, and found little useful info on the web. Can any of you provide info on this carb? Anyone have experience with them?

It has no air filter, and does not have much clearance for a thick air filter. I could also benefit from info on how to get an air filter for it.

Dave

Thanks for the tip. I am thinking that the carb's proximity to the exhaust manifold is not ideal, especially without an air filter or something. EIther as a fire hazard, or heating the intake air. What about some airhorns or something to extend the carb opening beyond the exhaust manifold, with our without an actual filter?

I decided to run an air cleaner on it, even at the expense of performance. When I saw the crud that stuck to the carb I figgered that was going into my motor, too. Since the SK carbs are weber copies, do you know if there is a particular model of weber air cleaner that would fit it? I also need a very thin one, due to space limitations. Dave

You might want a heat sheild as well so the carb doesn't boil the gas from the heat of the headers.

Good idea. Sounds like something that can be fabbed out of sheet metal.

I am grateful for that bit of info. Few others knew of the SK carb, let alone determine which air cleaner would fit. Dave
