I like my SA,......... but I'd like this too
|
you know they sell those engines and transmissions with a matching chassis. It's called a fucking Corvette. If you want a Corvette, buy a Corvette. People need to stop ruining Rx-7's...
|
agreed, a corvette is a corvette, an rx7 with any engine other than a rotary engine is an imposter

I like the enkei's, I love the black on tan, and don't like anything else about that RX-7. |
sorry to generate the Hate that brews under the surface on true , hard core RX7 traditionalists . Probably ruined a few peoples days
I just really like any car that would be a blast to drive . That would definately be one. But still love my stock '79 Limited .... and my ported 89 vert ( VDI :icon_tup:) .... and my T2 '79 baby on the way  |

I am sort of tired of the LS1 swaps. Not just in rx7's but in anything with wheels. There is no originality with doing an LS1 swap, so they don't interest me.
|
they need to stop ruining LHD FD's, who cares about RHD ones. RHD FD's are like hooker, they are everywhere LOL!
|
Seriously. Your guys must have a screw loose to actually hate that car.
LS swap = Power + Reliability + simplicity + driveability REW with 630 HP = Power + risk of blow up and costly rebuild + custom everything + won't drive nice BUT IT'S UNIQUE so thats somehow a trump card? Sorry, but I'm fed up with the guys who hate V8 swaps. It's a proven, dependable, powerful motor. why is that a bad thing? |
Soooooo pretty. I'd buy it, sell the swap stuff, throw in a stock 1999+ 13B-REW with a fresh rebuild, and drive it as a stock FD. That'd be reliable, quick enough, and gorgeous.

There's a whole forum dedicated to LS swaps & those who love them. This one isn't. May as well drop a VQ35 into a pony car, and then expect love in the Mustang forum for doing so. I've got nothing in particular against the LS1, but if you think you're "fed up with the guys who hate V8 swaps," why don't you get why rotards might get fed up with people bastardizing the only cars that natively use the Rotary? LS1's are so common they fall from the trees, as do old tired Vettes that can use them. Rotary-engine sports coupes are rarities, and they get more rare every time someone decides to do this. |
whats a pushrod?

For all the rotary purists and v8 lovers... It's just a car. A piece of metal. Something that is disposable. Get over your selves.
|
thats why i have both a 79 rx7 and a corvette. the corvette is nicer but i have too much love for the ROTARY!!!!!
|
Rotary, engine swaps and a RX-7. Its all cool to me. Hell fast is just plain cool too know matter how it is setup.

I"ve got both my first 7 had the convertion done to it when I got it but the motor was blown so took a pontiac 326 and put it in so I can chase down vettes and mustangs but I liked the 7 so much I went and got a few more one to leave stock and one to play with rotory stile
|
I would drive that car, sure it's a waste of a FD body, but why not.
Also for each RX7 that is ruined like this the value of the stock cars is going to rise. These cars will be a collectors car one day, they are already becoming more desirable. |

Personally, I don't like the idea of "bastardizing" the RX7 or any RX series car with a piston engine. That being said, I enjoy seeing good quality work and if the swap was done well I can respect that, I may not agree with it, but I can respect the work and effort that goes into it.
It is my personal belief that the RX series as well as the few other rotary vehicles (R100, Cosmo, REPU, ect) should not be powered by anything but a rotary engine. This is what made these cars special and unique, it wasn't power, wasn't how high they could rev (though I know we all love that high redline ), its about the fact that a little car company decided to put their R&D Money into preserving a unique idea in the face of extinction and creating quirky little cars that stand out amongst the rest. The Rotary Powered vehicles represent a technology that practically went extinct were it not for Mazda. I agree completely with the statement about the corvette, you want an LS1 powered rear wheel drive coupe? That's the corvette not an RX7. Do you know what a piston powered RX7 is? Go look at a Miata. And now I'm just gonna shut-up... |
