82transam 03-31-08 09:24 PM

That was awesome! Thanks for posting that, now if only I could save it to my HD....

Mickster 03-31-08 10:30 PM

There are methods of downloading YouTube videos to your HD. On an Intel based Macbook Pro laptop I use a Freeware application called FLVR. It is a simple drag, drop, download and save procedure.

This footage and the sounds of the 12A redlining rock. Definitely going in my collection.

Thanks!

i could understand that just fine they said rx-7 bridgeport and weber .....oh yea and brap brap brap braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap... ba... braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap

82transam 04-01-08 09:23 AM

Yea I heard bridgeport and weber in there as well, sounds great, and looks great too.
I'll have to search around for that software to save the vid, definatly want to hang on to this one!

takhay 04-01-08 01:07 PM

yeah, you guys pretty much got it all on the translation... weber, bridgeport, and REOS exhaust. They pretty much spend the rest of the video praising the rotary engine and commentating on driving style, at one point making a reference to how it is similar to an AE86, so driving the SA isn't that big of a problem for Tsuchiya. They said a bunch more, but nothing really important...

82transam 04-01-08 02:19 PM

Yea I heard something about the AE86 at the end, i was wondering if he thought it was similar. Apparently 2 years of college Japanese didn't teach me enough to understand this video....

ya thats mainly wat i wanted to hear. he kinda drove it like an ae86. n woundering if he liked the handeling n stuff.

Meatkibble 04-01-08 03:29 PM

I have a friend who has 2 ae86's and he said other than how light my clutch was, it feels EXACTLY like an AE86...Also, ive driven a few 86's and they feel really similar...power band is even the same. However, i love my FB more than i love an 86.

MaX PoWeR 04-01-08 04:17 PM

so wat did he say about the rx-3 n the skyline?

sa7 04-01-08 05:45 PM

Uh, i don't remember exactly what the driver was saying about the skyline, but Tsuchiya was definitely complimenting the RX-3 and it's rotary and how it was a really cool car back in the day. He said that the car was very "fine/splendid/excellent" ("rippa") and that it was a very well made NA engine. I think he was also complimenting the handling as well as the acceleration. He really liked the "feel" of the car.

I'll watch the video again and do a better translation later tonight.

tigermack 04-04-08 01:12 AM

oOo! I wanna see the translation as well!

justint5387 04-04-08 02:40 AM

The car is running around 350/200 lb springs. Wonder what shocks did they used.

Velburg 04-04-08 10:28 PM

that was a great find...

ForsakenRX7 04-04-08 10:53 PM

It was nice to watch its tach ping off the top, all the while kicking the shit out of the skyline.

MaX PoWeR 04-05-08 01:40 AM

spread the word around to ur former 1st gen owners. hope they all c this hahah

takhay 04-05-08 04:17 AM

Okay guys, not to get your hopes up or anything, but hopefully I'll be able to do a translation tomorrow morning before I go to work...

The Skyline actually ended up turning a faster lap than the Rx-7.

That was like Top Gear, but in Japanese, and a long time ago. :icon_tup:
