My Mom just sent me the March issue of Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car ( I am living in India, so cannot pop down to the store for one myself).

Anyhow, it is a pretty good read for an American car mag. There is a really informative article called "Sports Cars from Hiroshima" on the RX-7. Does a great job of detailing the history and specs.

They have even allowed the infamous Satch Carlson (remember him from Autoweek magazine in the 1980's?) back into autojounalism, although only on the very last page!

If anyone has a subscription to this magazine they can create an online account and access the full article online. I don't, so I can't. Posting the teaser lead in to the article to give a hint as to the flavor of the article. Would be very interested to read the whole thing if any subcriber out there could access and post. TIA!

I really have to take issue with the wholly inaccurate statement:

"Sure, many of its current products are no more than rebadged Fords."

I think that even people not into this site would agree that Mazda's cash and technical expertise bailed Ford out of the 1990's.

Was there ever a car designed by Ford that was badged as a Mazda? Not that I have heard of. The exact opposite.

I love Hemmings S&E, they cover classics from super-rare Ferraris to well-loved Saabs and Civics. There's no other magazine that has a comparison feature between a 240Z and Jag E-type.

I wish that article went into more detail of actually making the RX-7, like that prototype mule they had running around (I posted a pic of it here), since most of the story I've read before in other magazines and books.

There's a feature on an '85 GSL-SE in one of last year's issues.
