Help a noob with wheels please

Hello everyone, this is my first post to this forum.
I recently purchased a 1983 mazda rx-7 GX, I love the car and all the information that this forum offers.

I am still very confused about tires and wheels. The car has the original wheels which are 13. I want to replace them and add new ones as well as tires.

I found a set of wheels i like but I am not sure if they are going to fit.
The information I have is that the bolt pattern is 4x100,
I would like to add ENKEI92 Classic black they are 15s , 7width and 38 offset.
Everything else on the car is stock.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I did read a few posts but it got very confusing with all the information , about offsets , bolt patterns , rolling fenders etc.
Thanks again

The bolt pattern for your car is 4x110. You can safely fit a 15x7 wheel with 205/50x15 tires and
have minimal issues with fender rubbing. The key is to make sure the offset is correct to make
them fit. 195/50 would probably work better to avoid clearance issues.

You have a RX-7 GS, there no GX designation. You probably have the original plus wheels which
are 13x5.5. The Enkies may work but with that offest you may need spacers to make them fit
right. It depends on the wheel.

Thank you so much for your reply, I do have a GX model (Canadian) I think 2500 were produced.

Would a lug adapter 4x110 to 4x100 work if i purchase them and use them to make the wheels fit.

I really love the black mesh classic wheels ,

Thanks again

Yes it would work.

I had 25 offset 16x8 on a factory FB with 205/45/16 front and 225/45/16 rear with no rubbing.

Beautiful wheels, love the classic type.
Thats exactly what I would like but in black.

I will try to add some pics today of the 83 GX

Whats a GX then? Yeah, post some pics. I've never seen one.

My son has it out tonight.

i do have the VIN number, JM1FB3312D0726362

I need a lot of work on it, Breaks to be done, fuel sending unit, power windows and rear wiper not working, sway bar bushings, replace differential pinion seal, front strut rod bushings, rear calipers.
I am looking for parts right now, hoping to find some good deals.

GX model is super interesting. Never heard of it before and a quick internet search pulled up nothing.

What options did the car come with? I see it has headlight washers, sunroof, and a rear windshield wiper. I guess this might be the equivalent of an American GS model?

I think so, It has an all leather interior and power windows also.

Just a silly question, why do so many refer to brakes as breaks! Is it some Canadian thing?

I think you can blame modern phones with auto spell correction for a lot of it.

rxtasy3 06-13-16 12:35 AM

no phone here tim, just desktop. just a misspelling. i try to make sure i spell correctly, use the right words, etc. not like some i've read that use 'too' for 'to', or 'no' for 'know. sure, i'll use single letters for whole words like 'u' and 'r' but that just comes from txtn. i'll even google a word to make sure i get the spelling right. that way i seem somewhat edumacated, lol.
