HAHA, Cherry picker boom too short!
I am ready to extract a 12a and positioned the cherry picker into position. I am about 16" from the rear engine hook. I guess I am going to need a length of square tube. These engines are really tucked in there!

If the long tube won't adjust out to the 1000 pound mark, try using it from the side of the car instead of the front. Most pickers can be adjusted between 2000 and 1000 pounds. A leveler can also get you some extra length plus aid in engine angle.

I put a length of square tube in my engine hoist as well to get it long enough.
|
I was thinking the side, by it seemed... um , awkward. I’ll give it a go. |
It'll work fine so long as you skew the chains to match the angle of the engine from the side. Same same. Good luck!

I remove C4 Corvette engines with an engine hoist from the side. Works great. Luckily I've never personally had an issue with removing an RX-7 engine from the front with my hoist.

i do 1st gen engines out the bottom, its way easier and you do not need a hoist at all. hood stays on and nobody has to lift anything, its great.
plan B is from the side. hood still stays on, but you need a hoist, and its work because you need to push the engine around and stuff |
you can also pull the front bumper to get a bit of extra room, I typically don't use an engine hoist when pulling a 12a. Just strip it down to the bare block and get a buddy to help lift it out.

Engine hoist, from the side, by myself. Works great.

engine is replaced.
thank you all |
