gsl se converted to carburetor- It works great!!!!
I have a GSL- SE 1985, I have been working on it for the last 3 years restoring almost everything on the car. During my endeavor, I had difficulty finding parts for the fuel injection, could not get much power without major modifications or swapping into a turbo.
So I decided to do this - change to carburetor with racing beat intake -racing beat headers/exhust -remove all emission hoses- air pump- clean engine bay -electric fan -aluminum radiator -new starter/alternator/belts -new suspension front and rear - I did kept my fuel injection pump set up, but I change the relay , so it can be direct - I used a fuel pressure regulator with a return line to the gas tank- this seem to work well for not allowing the carburetor to flood, and it allow me to fix the common thread that carburetors holleys are not good for rx7s -I put new gas tank Here is the video of the outcome still working on it I will show pictures The reason for my post is for those like me that wanted to go carburetor and was told that It would not work right. For me, I like the look, clean, may not be the fastest but it is sure fun Thanks for in the website for their input ( I was asking in the website before how to fix my fuel injection problem- would not start) but it is good now with carburetor |

u got the intake from RB, why didn't u also get the carb and throttle cable bracket to go along with it? idle is a bit high don't u think?
|
agree it is a bit high
my problem is exactly what you said, I wanted to use the cable from the fuel injection, but it is is a bit short, I am planning to get a new cable thanks |
Thanks for your post and pics! I just bought a nice 85' GS roller and have a 13B engine to drop in from an '85 GSL-SE. Are you happy using a carb on your car? I have access to a free Holley and wanted to know if it's a good idea to get the Holley working over trying to get the engine's stock EFI system working. Thanks!
