generic LSDs that look like a scam
WTF is this
http://www.ffdynamics.com/products_lsd.htm http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FF-DY...spagenameZWDVW I am totally confused. |
I have no clue... How would it work?? O.o?
|
Can't quite wrap my head around that one. The ebay auction sounds like someone bought it, realized it was crap, and wants to get out from under it in a hurry. I just don't see how it would work...

This is a copy of the Phantom Grip "sorta" LSD. It fits into your existing differential carrier between the spider gears. Spring pressure against the spiders exert some anti slip properties. Has been discussed here and elsewhere before.

So its for real, are they a heap of shit tho?

This "FFD LSD" unit can't be as strong as a REAL limited slip differential. As RXDad mentioned, it puts pressure against your existing spider gears, sitting in the center of your factory differential carrier. This would cause the spider gears to try and turn at the same speed, at least in a straight line. There are no splines in the unit (at least I can't see any from any pic on either site those links sent me to), so the spider gears would tend to overpower it through turns, letting the factory differential action occur. Personally, I wouldn't waste my money on a unit like this. I've never owned one and most likely never will...
There may be others who have owned these types that like them, but my two cents would be to save your money for the real thing-an actual LSD unit designed and build specifically for your application... |
I don't know about this product, but I know someone who uses their (ff dynamics) radiator and e-fan in his fc and loves them. I think the company is legit, but again I haven't heard anything about this "lsd".
