A funny lesson learned: don't get greedy with the gas pedal

Funniest thing, to me anyways, happened to me on Sunday.

As everyone knows, the best way to keep carbon off the apex seals is by adding a can of SeaFoam to your gas tank when it is 1/4 or 1/8 full and giving it a good spirited drive up into the redline.

Well, I did just that. However, I got a bit greedy. I knew my tank was low, my Low Fuel Light was on for a while, probably about 13 miles since it came on solid. Well, I know the light comes on (according to the owner's manual) when there are 2.6 gallons left. I already stuck in a can of SeaFoam when I was at the local Pep Boys and gave it a decent romp to the redline a couple times as I headed back to where I live. Well, there is a gas station about 2 miles away from where I live, so that's where I was headed. As soon as I get onto the road that leads down to the gas station, about 1/4 mile away from the intersection that I came off from, I decided to ensure I used up that SeaFoam properly. I nailed the gas and brought it to redline in 1st gear, and then shifted into 2nd and kept it in the redline. All the way to the gas station.

Now, the gas station sits up on the top of a hill, sort of, in this small shopping center. I keep it in the redline while traveling up the mini-slope.

And, apparently, I shouldn't have done that. There wasn't enough gas in the tank and it all rushed back, not being anywhere NEAR the fuel pump pickup. My car stopped dead right beside the curb in front of the entrance to the gas station. And, the gas station was right there on my right. Another 3 yards, and I would've been on level ground to push the car to the pump. And, all I could do was just shake my head and laugh to myself.

Word of advice, if you plan on doing what I did, ensure you know how much gas you have left before doing that kind of spirited drive to the pumps. Tho, my car feels a helluva lot smoother after that run. :D
