Well spent 7 hours today detailing the Rx7 for the first time, and finished my rims up. Decided to go with black and a clearcoat and they turned out way better than I thought they would, looks like a totaly different car now. While I had the wheel off painting them I decided to clean and repack the front bearings and that cleard up all my ront end noise and tightend up the steering a little bit.

represent the maya golds! Very clean FB you have and I hope you keep it that color since I rarely see maya gold ones these days even though i was told gold was a very popular 80s color.
nice job on the wheels too! i noticed that your front all the way to your doors have a deeper shinier color than the rest of the rear half. perhaps it was a respray or had some front end damage? post up more pics of your car if you have anymore! oh and welcome to the forums! |
Looks good! A friend of mine did the same paint scheme on the plus wheels of his desert brown 85 years ago, gives the car a totally different look.

Thanks for all the coments guys, makes me wanna go fix more stuff lol. And yeah I noticed that to boyee, it is resprayed but I think the whole car was done, I think its from sitting in a garage for a long time and only getting hit halfway by sun because the lower half of panels are more like the front and not faded. But it is possible it was in a collision, if it was it was repaird by a very good body shop, but as far as I can tell its all original body wise and front end wise. My day off is tommorow so ill get some better close up pics, going to sand blast my wiper arms tommorow and paint those and the trim around the windows, should make another huge differance. Man Im sooo in love with this car and I dont know why lol, its slower then any of my civics and parts arnt as easy to come by and it gets terrible gas milage. But it still makes me smile when I get behind the wheel, out of all the cars ive owned this one has soard to the top of the list. Not to mention im sleeping better now, with my civics everytime id hear a tuned exhaust drive by my house I was grabbing my bat and running to the door to make sure no one was trying to jack my car, and yes I would wake up from a dead sleep at 3am.

I know the feeling. I built a EF with a LS Turbo for my fiancee. The thing has been tampered with so many times Im tempted to sell it. I have a Mayan Gold 81 its been sitting since 95. I hope to start on it soon. Did you clear coat the wheels?

I do not believe it was a factory option but perhaps a dealer option. There are a lot of aftermarket accessories produced for the first gen back in the day.

Very nice job, matches up well with the car.
