Came close to trading the car
 

Well, being how my father has a NB miata, and my brother just picked up a Power Hardtop NC, I have always fancied miata's. Well, my father tells me that one of the guys in the miata club used to have RX-7s, first gens as well. He said he had a 1994 NA miata, 1.6 engine. Hard top, Hard Dog roll bar, new struts, fresh BLACK paint, the works. Only thing I didn't like was the soft top for the car was tan :(

He wanted to trade straight up for it. He was asking $4k for the car before.


Soooo close... I wanted it bad :(

EDIT: 163k miles on the engine/car. And yes, I would have dropped in a 12a instead :D

I hear ya. Even though I do not have the funds I've been wanting a miata bad for a while now. The thing that discourages me from them is that I don't driving a convertible and I think they don't look the best with the tops on. Also, I don't love the stock interior.

And to those that dis the miata-its alot easier to make good power out of a miata than an rx7. It may be a boinger but it is still beautiful mazda engineering.

Word. A lot of people diss them, but most haven't driven (or raced) them :)

I like Miatas, but I laugh every time I see some big ass guy driving one. That's all I see driving them.

well i'm 6'3, i hate miatas and s2000s because i don't fit in them. way too uncomfortable. the fb is another story.

Better yet, most have yet to be beaten by one:lol:

But yeah, the miata not only handles better but can make better power. While they cost a bit more they do seem to one up us in the performance side. I can drool over some NA's all day but they can be pretty ugly cars, I've seen some that are hella ugly.

I've been debating picking one up for a winter vehicle, but I don't think I could find the money even if it was a good deal. Somebody please tell me I'm crazy and that they'd make a horseshit winter beater.

psh... i guess its because of my legs? its very very comfortable. changing the steering wheel helped with extra room so my legs aren't rubbing against the wheel anymore :P
buying a racing seat pretty soon, must sit lower if i want to race it with a helmet.

im 6'2" and if not for the sunroof on my SE my head would be up against my roof... that shits a tight fit, really wanting another steering wheel too, not the best choice for a 6'2" bodybuilder....

Miatas are for GIRLS!

Really, I had a 2004 Honda S-2000. It was an amazing car and performed flawlessly. I got tired of telling people it is not a Miata. I even saw way too many S-2000's being driven by women! When I lived in California my brother did not like riding with me in my S-2000. He said we look like two gay-bobs!!

Bottom line....I am a MAN through and through..... Miatas are for girls!

i wouldn't mind getting my gf a miata... she always says she wants a small car. but i guess its going to be a geo metro. i fit into those tonnes easier than a miata

I dont give two sh!ts what other people think about what I drive. Miatas are like a piston version of the FB, except they have a superior suspension, and are just as tweakable, if not moreso.

I see Miatas dominate their classes at most of the local auto-X, odds are the guy to beat, has a Miata. There is a guy around here thats drifts one. Dont have a clue what hes done to it, but it is boosted. He can drift it nearly non-stop around and 1/8 mile oval and create enough tire smoke to obscure the sky overhead.

I have driven Miatas, they are fun cars (albeit FREAKIN tiny inside lol), I dont mind the way they look. I am not someone who needs to drive something 'cool' and 'manly' to boost my ego and act hard. Not trying to be a dick, but guys that try to say 'X' car is for girls, well they make me laugh.

Get ready for a chuckle, but the new Beetles are chick cars... :)

Miatas are badass. period. There is a reason they are one of the most raced cars in the world.

Guys who wont drive them because theyre "girl" cars need to grow a set. Quit being so damn insecure and enjoy thecar for what it is. It isnt for everyone, nothing is, but it sure as hell isnt a girls car.

I will most definitely own a miata, its very high up on my next car to buy. I have a friend who have an NC and it drives amazingly. Actually a lot like a RX8 if you ask me.

i like the Miatas.. automatic Miata's are for girls as are VW Cabrio's.

I don't give two shits what people think about me or what I drive also. Hell I bought my ex-wife a 2003 Miata. It was a nice car....we would cruise in it and it was enjoyable.......It was HER car.

My stock 2004 S-2000 was 10 times the car a miata ever dreamed of being. I loved that car, did not really care if it was a girly looking ride. Sold it because work dictated the need for a 4 door car.

I know Miatas are competitive in their respective fields. I don't knock that. Hell their is a guy around here with a 10 second street drag Miata sporting a 4 cyl. turbo... Very respective.

I don't want to drive one..... The RX-7's are very special in their own kind of way. MUCH more of a basic, down to earth sports car that I very much enjoy.

If you want to buy one....have at it. Just don't expect to catch some flack around here when you talk about it.

BTW, if you really have a knack for driving girly cars....Mazda makes mini vans also!

Last time I was car shopping (2003) I test-drove a Miata. Very fast, very fun. Top-down was great. Top-up, I didn't have muc headroom (5'11) but I fit.

Then I looked in the "trunk." Hardly enough room for my briefcase in there.

Ended up with the Z instead. Can't say as I feel that I missed out on anything. I can get my dive gear in it, and I have probably 6" or more of unused headroom.

And it is faster - - almost 1.5 seconds faster to 60.
