Burgundy Carpet

Looking for a good match to our burgundy carpet so I can finish off some new kick panels.

One option you might find is used original carpet from an FB, get a section and then cut to size.

This should match the fabric type, condition and color very closely.

Or you could buy some used kick panels in the burgundy, these would be plug and play.

I probably have some of these, if you want to pm me a picture of what you want I'll take a look.

These are the kick panels (85 GSL). I did a quick install of the tweeter using the surface mount adapter and factory screw hole. I could cut these up, but I'd rather take them off and have them for when I sell the car. I go through audio equipment changes every so often and not all tweeters are the same size, so it would be a pity to cut these up without having a spare set on hand.

The standard carpet they used to sell at Wal-mart and the part stores was a good match. I used that for my rear deck to get by.

Walmart, huh. I'll have to poke around next time I'm in there.

Those panels are stiffened with a thin fiberboard backing and the carpet itself is not very thick, so the overall panel is only about a quarter inch wide.

If you fabricate something from carpet I'm afraid it's going to be too thick and floppy to mount well and hold the speaker.

I should have some of these in the parts shed and I'm trying to clear out my 84/85 maroon parts (switched to an 83 S2 GSL) so if you're interested send me a pm and I'll send pictures of what I have.

Nice looking interior by the way!

I'm no stranger to building kick panels. My plan is to cut new boards then finish them off with carpet. I just want to make sure the carpet matches the drapes

It's always more fun to make your own. Good luck with the project, post some pictures of the results if you think of it!
