before/after of my Wed's wheels
i got these wheels a while back when i bought my car.
they were in ok shape but needed to be stripped, polished and painted. im doing one wheel at a time and i think they are coming out good. using aircraft stripper on the entire rim, sanding the lip with 1500 grit and hand polishing it. then masking the wheel off and using Duplicolor silver wheel paint. they are Wed's European-I 13x6 with a 15 offset. before: http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...e/IMG_0110.jpg after: http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...e/P7010049.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...e/P7010051.jpg http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b3...e/P7010052.jpg |
looks good cant wait to see them on the car:icon_tup:

Damn those are nice.
|
nicely done... where'd you get the idea for the aircraft stripper?
|
thanks guys.
aircraft paint stripper works really well on aluminum parts without hurting the metal. i use the stuff in the aerosol can. i removed the clear coat on the lip as well. considering the FB isnt my DD i dont mind having to polish the lip on the wheels. i will do a step by step with pics on the next wheel i do |
Looks nice. I remember 20-some years ago, people thought I was nuts because I used sandpaper on my machined surface mags. When they saw the end result, they changed their minds........

here's a bomb ass product for aluminum.... http://www.californiacustom.com/purp...al_polish.html
Its a secret weapon that truckers discovered, so you know its good. I've used it also and it works a treat :) |
Wow. Thos are looking nice. Makes me want to strip and polish my old Weds. I have never seen a set in 13" before. Mine are 14", and I know someone who has them in 15". Still, they look great!
