'83 GSL tan leather interior

Hey guys, have an '83 Gold GSL w/ the tan leather, it's proven to be a PAIN to find parts for interior wise!!! From all my research, is it true that only the 83 cars came w/ this particular interior, and it only came in black & gold cars?

Most parts for these cars are difficult, but not impossible, to find, but good lord, tan is TOUGH to locate!!

The paints and dyes for interior pieces work really well, and can be custom mixed if need be for a perfect match. I painted a moroon lower dash black to go in my '79 and ten years later it still looks perfect, no chips or fading that reveals the maroon underneath.

I've got the same car. Interior is out and EVERYTHING is being painted black. New carpet ordered. I'm looking for black seats, and seat belts.

Dupli-color vinyl and fabric works great. As long as you clean every part meticulously, and use their prep spray, and adhesion promoter.

like rwatson said ... the products today are much superior to what we had years ago the brand I use is SEM and have had zero issues

Apex Auto parts out of KC and Jim Hull from Rotary Restorations used to have some tan interior parts. Jim has sold mostly on eBay (frodogray) the last few years but the last time I went to his store, it said he was closed and he was selling everything off as a whole. Too bad, as finding parts is getting harder than even 5 years ago. At least the odd bitts and interior parts.

You'll be able to mechanical things like water pumps and brake pads for a long time yet, but you need a nice set of door cards or a center console with a unbroken lid hinge to finish off your stock interior, it may take some long shearching. Unless the demand to restore these cars goes up and creates enough intrest that an aftermarket conglomerate starts producing re-pop parts, we are left to pick through the scraps of cars being parted out. A fate many cars go through after they become more valuable in parts than as a whole vehicle.

I bought a whole car about 5 years ago just for some of its parts. Problem was, after I got it home, it was too nice to break up. I ended up buying a few more things to fix that one up too. Damm thing looks showroom today and runs like a friggin top! After investing about 10K, I have a car thats worth about 6-7K on a good day. These damm machines will drive you bonkers!

The story of our lives!!!!!!!

Thats why I throw away reciepts and refuse to total up what I have spent, it would take all the joy from my hobby.

Lol same here. I have no idea how much I've spent over the years, and I don't want to know either...

I was recomended sems brand dye just the other day actually! Glad to hear its worth getting, that should make things easier.

And good grief if I knew what I've spent on these cars.... shudder! Lol. But hey we're fun and I think everyone on this forum understands haha

Thanks all!
