I love grassroots motorsports...but i'm REALLY starting hate AutoBlogs "two cents" on things...read autoblogs comments at the bottom of the excerpts

Siraniko 09-30-09 03:10 PM

Glad I have 3 RX-3s. one for me, another one for me and an extra one for me. LOL

diabolical1 09-30-09 03:22 PM

wackyracer, you suck! :D

yeah, i hated reading their sideshow comments, but all in all, i think it was a pretty good list. it's tough to choose just 10 cars for that list, but i think GRM did alright. i've been looking at SA and FB prices lately and they certainly have jumped up in price. i'll have to go out and get this issue.

Unevolved 09-30-09 04:51 PM

Jalopnik is becoming what Autoblog used to be, and Autoblog is a joke now. At least from a commenting standpoint.

I'm glad I picked up an FB in good shape, I have no intention of ever selling this car. Shit, in December it's going to be a classic car according to Texas.

Portland82GSL 09-30-09 05:40 PM

I feel kind of bad now for modding my RX7, but i guess period mods could make it more valuable...not like I plan on selling the 7...ever. I was kind of surprised the Toyota 2000GT wasn't on there.

Very suprised the 2000GT did not make the list.....shows the naive views of this article...

The Toyota 2000 GT is the MOST collectable Japanese car... in fact examples of the 2000GT were the first Japanese classics to break $100,000 sales prices on Barrett Jackson and Mecum auctions...

and for your viewing pleasure.... two pictures I took in Houston at a car show of THE "creme de la creme" of ALL Japanese cars...

thunkrd 09-30-09 08:10 PM

they said future collectibles... i don't think he was referring to already collectible cars... but then again... =.=

Autoblog says: We think Tim may have missed the mark on this one, as the 2nd (FC) and especially 3rd (FD) generation RX-7s are the ones we'd want
i dont know what autoblog is thinking or am i weird for trying to stay away from the FCs/FDs and going wiht an FB?

80s old school- the owner of the toyota dealer i am a tech for owned 2 2000GTs. he said it was the worst mistake he made selling them

80's old school 09-30-09 08:17 PM

You know...the more I think about it, the article might be right not having the 2000GT....the article is "future" collector cars... The 2000GT is already a collector car...

My pick of top ten would be....

1. SA22 RX-7's
2. RX-100
3. RX-3
4. Nissan Skyline
5. Toyota Supra
6. Acura NSX
7. Honda S-600
8. Datsun 1600/2000 Roadster
9. Datsun Fairlady 240Z
10. Datsun 510

Reason original Cosmo did not make my list....I think like the 2000 GT...it already is a classic....

Front wheel drive imports just don't make my "favorites" list....

Not that it matters...just my opinion...

I am totally with you. I really do not see myself in a FC because they are too electrical... too heavy for their powerplants. I would love an FD, but that would be only when I get rich, as their parts are so expensive. Also I know the FD will become a collector car, that car is just sex.

I will stick with my FB thank you. If my Idle isn't right, it is most likely the carb. If a FC's idle isn't right, it could be 18356318 different things.

I agree, FWD would not be on my list unless it was an AWESOME fwd car. Which in itself is few and far between. I would own an Oldsmobile Toronto before an ITR.

1. SA/FB
2. REPU (Only in America)
3. R100
4. RX3
5. Toyota Celica 2000GT
6. Datsun 2000
7. Datsun 510
8. Datsun 240
9. Honda T500F (Only Honda I would ever own... and keep)
10. Toyota Crown Coupe

Yes. I am a Mazda fan.

i had the pleasure of seeing one of those when i lived in Tallahassee. i used to drive by it everyday. to be honest, it looked neglected (parked at a gas station), but i never stopped to ask about it because i couldn't have made a move at the time anyway. that sucked! anyway, i think they are gorgeous cars though.

... by the way, in all honesty though, if i had not got bitten by the rotary-bug so many years ago, i'd probably heavily be into Nissans/Datsuns, particularly the Z-cars.

Z cars are bad ass... Growing up I knew forls that had a 260 Z and a 280 X... My sister had a 1980 SA22 that she bought brand new. That car got totaled in 1981. She then bought a 1982 280 ZX and hated it!! Sold that car and bought a 1983 RX-7!!!

IMHO...ZX cars sucked.... Z cars are cool...

well, i'll venture off topic one more time, but this is it ... i promise! :)

it's kinda funny that it was the 280ZX that started my love affair with Z-cars, but after growing up, they are now towards the bottom of my list. i don't care for the 300ZX (Z31) much either. however, the Z32 re-ignited my love and it hasn't really waned since then. i went to a dealer with the intentions to buy a 350Z February 2007. i drove it and somehow came home with an Rx-8. much as i love the Z33, to me it seemed to lack the soul of the Rx-8 and even the Z32. my love for rotaries began in 1987, so it pre-empted the Z32 by 3 years.
