13B in FB flywheel question

Sooo i just picked up a stock port S4 13b that was in a kit car. I'm wondering what flywheel I'll need to mate it to my fb - 12a 5 speed.

It came to me with a kennedy adapter kit on it to fit a vw/porsche transmission. I think the flywheel was part of that kit, but I'm not sure. Since I've only seen 12a flywheels that key directly onto the e-shaft, I'm not sure about compatibility between this flywheel and my my gearbox.

When compared to my 12a flywheel, this is smaller in diameter and the starter teeth protrude more rearward.

Since this flywheel has a separate counter-weight keyed to the e-shaft, and it doesn't seem balanced (has a neutral weight), can I replace it with a flywheel that will fit my transmission and keep my counterweight?

Sorry for the grime, I picked it up yesterday:

No, it won't fit your RX7. That looks like a VW flywheel that has been grafted to an RX7 flywheel. Definitely a custom thing.

If you are using the FB transmission get the smaller N/A 13B flywheel. Pretty sure they are all the FC's use the same counter weight, but CHECK BEFORE you TAKE this ADVICE.

EDIT: looks like its bolted to a counterweight. Might get lucky and find that's an FC auto counterweight and you can just buy a light weight flywheel. bolt on and go.

thanks for the info Qingdao. Sounds like I'll just go with a lightweight flywheel

S4 (86-88) have a different counterweight than the S5 (89-91) cars.

I agree that it looks like this engine has the correct counterweight on there already and he could simply get an aftermarket flywheel to match his transmission and bolt it up no problems.

Rule of thumb is match your flywheel to your rotating assembly.

That's a custom wheel maybe you should check if a b2200 pickup wheel will work the box ratio is almost exactly the same and fly wheel has more than enough counter weight all to turn over and enough meat to balance/scheme wheel
