12A 6mm Rotor at dealership
 

i went to pick up my t-stat that i ordered the other day from the dealership and i when i walked in i see a rotor housing and there was a rotor sitting in the housing pointed up so i pull the rotor out to look at it and show my daughter. well what i noticed when i was lookin at it was the apex grooves where 6mm brand new rotor and housing i mean the housing was mint on the inside super shiney! Also on top of the housing there was what appeared to be a water temp sensor dead center on top in the middle of it. im guessing that this was for an old shool like Rx3 2 dizzy 12A(correct me if im wrong) i thought it was pretty cool that they had that there concidering they share the palce with suzuki well they used rotarys on there old bikes, either way it was cool! i ll see if i can get a few pics of it.

maybe it was a demo houseing of that new 16x or whatever????

Yeah, 16X has a fuel injector the top of the housing with the electrical contacts facing the driver's side. I think it was green in the demos that are out there. If it WAS a 16X, go back and get some pics, man. The rotor is physically bigger and runs on an e-shaft with more eccentricity. Lots of changes.

it was just the housing and the rotor and it said 12A on the housing!

i just got back from the dealer and i was asking him about the housing and he was telling me that it was from one of his techs that he had from back in the day and he gave it to them. and the 12A stamp isnt where the are now just above the spark plugs its higher on the housing.

i also talked to him about 16C display, he said that they are working on it and they should have one around spring time. i got some pics but i have to get them from my fone, so hold tight.

notice how the rotor has 2 spots for side seals and see the plug on the top of the housing its alil wierd i dont think that its a water temp thingy anymore but it does protude into where the tension bolts go.

I've got one of those rotors in a 12a housing in my office at work with the double side seals. Makes it a little easier to explain to all the truck drivers that stop in my office.

3rd and final 7, it's for the front lifting hook.

It is near the front cover. The lifting hook is traditionally placed on the front rotor housing. The rear housing had a decent looking #3 phillips screw with 8mm x 1.25 thread. They were otherwise interchangeable.

A demo housing for a 16X!!! LOL that made my day! There is only one 16X demo out there and it isn't at any dealerships!

Not trying to thread jack, but what transmission are you going to use? I assume a FR Layout?

Edit: Only asking because I heard VW bug transmissions were weak for higher RPMS.

its from an rx3.......i had the same motor in my FB.......the apex seals that go into the rotor are carbon....sofor that reason the housings can never really go bad....the only that can happen is that the seals go bad which they do in average 60,000-70,000 kms

It was basically a "never" occurrence to see any significant chrome damage in the 73 and earlier rotor housings when used with the original carbon apex seals.

It's a old twin dizzy engine from Rx3. I have 12 brand new housing 4 brand new rotors and 6 new shafts to this engines :)
