10-5-10 OGTA Report

10-5-10 OGTA Report

A very nice meet, great weather, great folks, great cars. Lot’s of nontraditional Wankels (FC’s, FD’s, FE’s and such) and lot’s of new things to look at.

Here’s the count, courtesy of Kristy:

10 FB’s = 10 12A’s (Michael, Scott, Bill, Dean, Gene, Greg the Elder, Carlton, Crit, Mike, Ray)

5 FC’s = 2.5 12A’s (Colin, Zach, Rob, Ricky, Andy)

1 PrePro = 0.75 12A’s (Kristy)

2 FD’s = 0.66 12A’s (Troy, Jeremy)

2 FE’s = 0.25 12A’s (Holly, Billy)

1 Miata = 0 12A’s (Chris)

Total 12A count = 10 + 2.5 + 0.75 + 0.66 + 0.25 + 0 = 14.16

Here’s the Pics (sorry they are a little fuzzy, I think I need to put some new batteries in the camera):

beautiful pics Ray! i'm coming down next summer for sure!! new guy Bill's SE has the IMSA rear spoiler and the air dam. two rare oem pieces!!

lx_machado 10-05-10 10:40 PM

Sorry i missed it ray, School always seems to get in the way of fun.

Man that Silver SE is gorgeous!! Is he on the forums?

Mickster 10-06-10 12:03 AM

Always enjoy the pics Ray. Good to see new folks and their rides joining in.

Wow, that is extremely well done under that hood. I guess the fan is a "pusher"?
Also, the brake master looks different. I have a 929 one myself, and it's not quite the same though?

Anyway - props to however did the work. I would love to see more pics of it, if available.

mazdaverx713b 10-06-10 02:59 AM

i agree that its extremely nice! the only concern that i would have is that the air filter appears to be directly over the front portion of the exhaust and this would lead me to believe that the engine is sucking in hotter air than need be.

ray green 10-06-10 04:55 AM

We would love to see you Dave, we can put you up at the Rotary Hilton or the FB Inn, special OGTA discount rates apply. Yeah Bill's white SE is a fine specimen (I'm partial to white, as you know). I didn't get to look very closely at it or talk much with Bill, he straggled in kind of late. Hopefully we'll see more of him in the future. Imagine, an original owner SE with 68,000 miles....

And yes, that Silver SE is a real looker! My pictures don't even begin to give it justice, it is extremely well done. My imagination was flying at first, but when I talked to Scott about the details ($500 radiator hoses, things like that) my $1200 Silver GSL started looking better and better (worth a bit more now with upgrades from the parts shed and lots of TLC).

I'll try to get someone to post better pics and contact information for Scott, the car is a trove of performance mods (yes it has the respeed rack and pinion and all that other suspension stuff). A pleasure to look at.

DivinDriver 10-06-10 10:16 AM

In my more outlandish daydreams, I think of repeating/extending a road trip I made with my SA not too long after I bought it, back in my single days.

Took me from LA through Dallas to New Orleans, then back through Omaha to visit the folks and Denver, back to LA. My original end destination was supposed to be Augusta GA, where I was stationed for a time in the service, but I was projecting to run short on vacation time & gas money.

If I did it again, I'd have no reason to go through Omaha as both the folks have passed in the intervening years & I've no family left there... and I'd have to time it so I could swing it out to the OGTA meet and collect the coveted Transcontinental Iron Butt award.

Not likely I'll ever have that kind of free time again, being an old married man now, and having some 20 years additional wear on Spry Beastie (and my sitting muscles)... but a guy can dream.

rxtasy3 10-06-10 12:01 PM

enjoyed the meet. glad i was able to add to the count this time. that silver se was awesome. would have liked to had more time to discuss all the mods done to it. the brake booster and master i believe i heard came from an fc. would liked to have gotten more info on the ignition system too. it's running motech ecu so probably no different than how the fc or fd is. also would have liked to felt the power of it. u know, to get a comparison.

ray green 10-06-10 12:10 PM

That certainly would take the Iron Butt of All Time Award Glen. And of course we really would love to see that Spry Beastie of yours, so come on down.

In the mean time I'll try to remember to refresh the batteries on the camera for the next meet so the flash will enhance the virtual experience.

And yeah, we always enjoy seeing those photos of your California events too. Not as many dents and mud and grease on the cars out there as we have here in GA.

rotarycrazy 10-06-10 12:14 PM

what are the wheel specs on the SE I know they are XXR002 but they seem to be staggered fitment.

Got to see the Beastie in person this year at Dude on ground is obviously alive and you run away a lot. Guy on the ground was probably hammered and never made it home.
Sounds like you live near some trailer homes. Meth is a hell of a drug.

I always have my gun on my hip when I go bike riding or walking. Keeps most of the crazy's away.
and all I can say is the pictures do it no justice. That is probably the cleanest fb I've ever seen. I spent probably 20 minuets looking her over and I know i didnt catch every lil detail, the engine bay is immaculate lol.

andycivic 10-06-10 01:37 PM

good fun... i enjoyed it also

Such an adventure fits well on my bucket-list Glen. I'd like to think I could stop the world and be your wing man if we could make the trek next summer to gather with Ray and his gang.

ray green 10-08-10 06:45 PM

That would be great Mike, get Glenn and Doc and Trochoid and a bunch of you other World Famous Rotary Dudes down here to a Road Atlanta event hosted by ZoomFest.

I'll talk to Billy about it.

t_g_farrell 10-08-10 08:56 PM

Great meet guys!

If any of you out of staters decide to show up, let me know an I'll make the
trip down from Charlotte. Always like a nice 3 hours cruise if the weather is right.

Speaking of dreaming, I want to make the drive to SS cross country. Someday

mazdaverx713b 10-09-10 02:31 AM

if there is a meet and Doc, trochoid, Mickster, DivinDriver, can make it, i'll sure as heck make it! i'm totally down for an RX-7Club meet!!

Mickster 10-09-10 10:28 AM

Momentum builds...

The quest begins with the first click...or is it shift...:icon_tup:

Here's my path (1-day 11 hours) from hometown to Tavern, not counting all the staging points to meet up with compadres along the way:

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=92648&daddr=105+Horizon+ Dr,+Suwanee,+GA+30024-2999+(Jeffrey's+Sports+Bar+%26+Grill)&hl=en&geocod e=FXTjAQIdr0T3-CmheL2vAyTdgDElRsSoRWJ-iQ%3BFetLBwId-rv9-iGkXLY6V_mNiSnV-clya5b1iDEGKwD5T5d9YA&gl=us&mra=ls&sll=34.032852,-84.034574&sspn=0.014226,0.033023&ie=UTF8&ll=34.052 659,-101.030273&spn=29.841684,67.631836&z=5

A pretty straight shot through some great lands.

Anyone have a chip to cash in with a General who can requisition a Boeing C-17 to/from Alaska to provide Stu and his pristine beauty transport across the great divide?
