(IGNITION) Improved FB Coil-DLIDFIS Wiring Diagram

Hey Guys,

I took Jeff20b's DLIDFIS wiring diagram and actually put the names instead of the numbers. Jeff gets full credit for the diagram, I just replced his numbers with names to make it easier to read.

If a mod could place this in the locked DLIDFIS thread in the Archive, or move this thread to the archive that might help.

Very cool!! :D

Yeah, I whipped it up in MS Paint one day. It was based on one I made before. I only showed the very basics, and added a 'legend' in HTML text below it.

I've been thinking about upgrading it a little here and there, but no need right now; you've done a great job.

Mods, please archive this or something.

Very awesome!! Wish it was that easy from the start! Great job to you both!

still looks confusing and why 3 coils for a gsl-se oh well i guess i will have to figure itout myself

thanks anyway:(

:) 3 coils - Leading for Rotor 1, Leading for Rotor 2, and the Trailings fire at the same time off of one coil :)

^close, but not quite right.

The leadings fire at the same time. Each coil is firing off the same source. The trailing runs through the dizzy as it does normaly.

Damn... I guess I'm not ready for my DLIDFIS course diploma yet... Back to the books for me!

In the above diagram, you can add a kill switch as an upgrade to DLFa;fja;fj.

You can run a wire directly from the battery to a 30 amp relay (fog lights). this will supply juice to both leading coils, as well as the trailing.

And finally, to energize the 30 amp relay, run a wire from the ignition then to a switch then to the relay (this is the low voltage) to energizze the relay.

Just be sure to hide the switch somewhere. Instant kill switch.;)

I have heard alot of people powering DLIDFIS through a relay directly to the battery, How much of a difference would this make? Maybe a slightly better high end spark. or is doing this not worth my trouble?

mwatson184 02-29-04 09:11 PM

^that is how i have mine wired. Ignition switch to relay. The relay runs from the battery to the positive on the coils. Makes for a nice clean install, and gets rid of a lot of the factory wiring.

My white REPU needs a relay because the nearly 30 year old wires to the key get kinda hot. I already hooked up a relay in my other REPU and it actually cured a blip at idle, and the wires barely get warm now. Highly recommended.

I wonder if it'll cure the occasional blip in the white REPU's idle? Couldn't hurt to find out.

Thats how I did my RX-3 (but now im running MSD since i got it for xmas 2 yrs ago), my bro's SA and several others FB's. it worked good and its a kill switch too. maybe I will write a diagram when I find the time.

Sorry to bring this back from the 2-week dead, but when talking about the relay from the battery....

You mean skip the ignition switch entirely, just go battery-relay-coils
instead of battery-ignition switch-coils

What kind of relay? (Hell, I don't even know what a *relay* IS!)
