(FUEL) Fuel Gauge and Sending Unit testing

What is the Ohms on empty and full tank of gas? I am finding a fuel gauge on summit racing to replace the gauge I already have. Story: Changing engines in the car and ended up having no coolant or oil sensors at all. I cant tell if I have oil pressure, coolant level, or oil temp (I think that is the other gauge). I only have fuel, tach and speedo.

Thanks guys!

The specs are in the FSM.

There are no aftermarket fuel level senders that match Mazda's fuel gauge. It is possible to install an aftermarket one by changing the gauge and modding a matching sender to fit the tank, I've done that on the widebody. The 79's have no oil pressure gauge since the the rear iron has has no provision for the sender. You can add a mechanical one by tapping the banjo bolt on the oil line at the bottom of the rear iron.

Coolant level sender is in the top of the radiator, changing engines should not have affected that.

What if someone has a year that isn't adequately covered in the FSM they have available? Or what if another member happens to know offhand from experience, and can add more useful information like "The manual says X, but watch out for this hidden bolt here or corroded connector there".

Otherwise there'd be no point to this forum at all - just a page saying "Read your manual, noob. Signed, Doc."

i always try to help fellow RX-7 owners as much as i can. if i dont know the answer i'll look it up and post it. i've been working on these cars for so long and have owned 15 of them over the years and i know that some things can be really frustrating. i understand other senior members telling people to look at the fsm or the faq and thats ok. but if i know the answer or can get you an answer pretty quickly and easily, you'll have it. its the people that ask the common questions over and over again that make some forum members want to throw the fsm at the people. that and some people are just lazy and want the answer handed to them before they even attempt a search.

Fwiw, the ohm output on the 1st and 2nd gen fuel level senders is the same.

If you are using the sender from the 79 listed in your profile it will not be the same. you will need to look it up in the SA FSM.
