yup yup... youll have to do some drilling if you use the stock manifold though

Just buy a manifold from Rene.. rx3mist.com

You can do *anything* with enough time, money and effort.

Will the 2nd gen turbo just bolt on to a 12a first gen? no. The engines aren't the same size, so the exhaust bolts aren't in the same place, and the exhaust system is shaped slightly differently so the stock downpipe won't just bolt in.

Not to mention that you'd have to either run a blow-through turbo with your carburetor (which requires custom carb mods) or switch to FI which isn't simple to do on the 12a since its centre plate doesn't have the provisions for it.

At a MINIMUM you'll have to:
1. Get a custom adapter to mount the turbo to your 12a exhaust ports (that's what the http://www.rx3mist.com/selling.htm link was referring to).
2. Have a custom downpipe made to hook to the rest of your exhaust system
3. Have your stock carburetor modified for blow-through
4. Get a carb hat
5. Upgrade your fuel system, possibly including a rising rate FPR
6. Make custom tubing and mounting for your intercooler

Optional is the switch to FI, which is done most easily by replacing your centre plate with one from a 13b, then having a custom intake manifold made.

Even simpler (and probably cheaper) is buying a TII engine complete with ECU, wiring harness, turbo, and intake and swapping it in.

Ditto.

Sure, itll fit....anything can be made to fit.The 13BT turbo/manifold are the easiest setup to adapt to a 12A since they are already rotary specific. But its not a "Bolt on the turbo and have tons of power", type of setup.Theres much more to forced induction running, than just the compressor.
Getting the/a/any turbo to bolt up to the 12A is the easy part. The rest of the mods needed to make it work, are the hard part.

IMHO its much easier to just swap in the 2nd gen engine instead of trying to modify the 12A. Save yourself a lot of headaches, but its your car and your time/money do as you wish.

Add vipernicus42 and Steve84GS together and what have you got? The perfect informative response to what appears at first to be a simple one word answer.
