(ENGINE) Flywheel Stopper
 

Normally i do not have a need for one because i use my impact gun. However my compressor is at another location. So today i started to order the flywheel stopper from racing beat but changed my mind. While underneath there i started brain storming. Pictures of my flywheel stopper attached. It is a Smog pump bracket with 1 pressure plate bolt and 1 trans mounting bolt as hardware. Works perfectly. You could also use alt bracket also. Bolt that i used to put in trans mounting hole is 2 inches long. Make sure when you tighten it you get it snug so it keeps torque applied. Also on the bracket you will need to flaten it with a hammer and drill out the side that usually mounts to the engine to accept the larger trans bolt.
Another tip to ease things on the reinstall for the trans. Get 2-3 longer trans bolts and cut the heads off of them. Use them as guides for the trans when reinstalling. You will not need to have a jack under the trans to posistion it for alignment. it will go right in, usually takes about
30 seconds to a minute max to get the trans back in this way. Hope this helps for future usage.

Cool idea. I just made my own the other day as well. I had a good length of 1/8" flat bar just sitting around, so I just drilled two holes into it to fit 2 of the pressure plate bolt holes, and bolted it to the flywheel. Turn the flywheel untill it hits something hard, such as the body and it works like a charm. Only took me about 5 min to make locate and drill the holes too.

It helps to cut a screwdriver slot into the bolt also. They can be hard to thread out once the trans is in place.

I took my long breaker bar and connected it to the nut that is on the pully in front. Turned the engine by hand untill it hit a fender (Was only an inch or so to go!) Everything came off easily from there.

Good tip Hades12. I did another trans install this morning. I use the bottom 2 bolts for my positioning for alignment. The one that is closest to the starter is the one that a slot in the center would come in handy. I use the existing top bolt where the engine lifting hook is for my top posistioner. Believe me there is no needed wiggling of the trans to make it go in.
I was alittle tired this morning so i think it took me 45 seconds to put the trans back in alignment,lol.

That is one of the coolest tips I've seen in a long time!
