Probably too far north for you??
This shop may be too far north for you. Eric's V8 conversion starts on page 4 of his build. You can also find the info in his blog.

Where in LA are you? I strongly suggest if you are not doing the swap yourself that you just buy a swapped car. It will be way cheaper in the long run, as long as you get something that was swapped properly.
Short list of what's needed for a basic swap.
Motor +trans
Swap kit + Radiator
Power steering lines
Ac Lines (if you go with AC)
Fuel Fittings
FPR
Dakota Digital
gauge Senders
Drive shaft
Engine wiring service (+AC Wiring)
Misc Wiring components
Battery relocation
Fuel Pump
Clutch Master
Shifter (depends on your trans)
Complete exhaust (+headers if you dont want the stock ones)
Powder coating
Misc Heat Shielding
Short list of what's needed for a basic swap.

I added all the parts and realized my budget has to increase to 10-12k. I would like to buy a finished car but my requirements are very strict so it might be better to do a swap. I'm also giving myself a year to finish the project so I hope I can get it done

I ran the numbers already and including contingency, it's little cheaper to do the conversion. I wouldn't commit to such a big and expensive job without running all the number. It's either rebuild my motor or drop in a V8. I really don't want to spend more later

I agree. It's always the little thing that's the budget buster and make ppl give on their project. I've been through a rebuild before and didn't want to go through it again. 3k for rebuild motor + 1k broken/incidental parts + 2-3k for upgrade if you want the engine to run safe = 7k. Even with all that money, there's no guarantee how long the rebuilt will last and I might be looking at another expensive rebuild later down the road. With LS swap reliability is there and no need to drop additional 5k for performance upgrade. I love rotary power, sound, and feel but its not worth money

Yeah I think most of the v8 guys have met locally. I don't know anyone in the circle who is doing a pay to swap. The last "semi" reliable race shop that did left for San Diego. Closest person I can think of that might entertain it would be Anthony, but he's busy with his new business. I think if you can spare a few hours a week you'd be able to accomplish the swap with some help from the local tribe.

I did most of my swap myself in my garage. There are kits that make things easy. I did everything but the wiring myself and then just had a custom midpipe made at a fab shop. Look on NoRotors, there's a wealth of info there you can read up on before you decide if it's something you want to do.
