Can't Edit my Threads

I really did not want to start a thread for this, but I have read the FAQ's, searched the forums, PMd a moderator, and emailed the forum in the contact us section.

I understand that I need to be "allowed" to edit my threads. How can I get someone to allow me?

As stated above, I have PMd a mod and emailed the forum and have not received any response.

Thanks

Sorry you couldn't find the answers you are looking for.

Depending on where you posted it, you can usually edit the content of your posts for at least 30 minutes, just not the title, it takes a Mod to make title changes. If you PM me I'll help you get the edits made you need.

Let me clarify. Unless something has changed, you can typically only edit within 30 minutes of posting.

Based on your posts, it looks like you want to edit a FS thread. This is a specific area where we do not do edits. They reason is that a seller could say some part is perfect, sell it to some guy, and then edit the thread to say the part was damaged. The buyer then says "Hey, you said this part was perfect!". The seller then could say "I never said that. The ad says the part was damaged." So, it is to protect everyone to keep a record of the actual ad. I understand that it would be nice to edit the post to remove parts that sold or lower a price, but there are also too many downsides to allow it. The best thing is to reply to the thread and list the parts that are sold or include the lowered price.

However, if there are other issues (like you needed to remove personal info from an old post, need to remove a duplicate thread, etc.), you can PM a mod from the section or use the Report Post icon (triangle with a '!' under each avatar). The report post will send an email to the mods of that section.

Ahhhhhhhh I see. I think this info should be in the FAQ's.

I am a member of multiple forums, like many of your users. All of them allow FS thread editing, so I assumed this one was the same. I guess I understand your reasoning though, there are some shady ***** out there. Too bad there isn't a way to save the original post in the thread as well as allowing changes.

Thanks for the help, I do appreciate it guys!
