rx7 v8 swap conversion?..whats it take
alright so i found a 1993 R1 red rx7 rolling body. What do i need to do for a v8 swap? and WHICH corevette engines will fit(LS6, the zo6 motor)? please let me know and help me out. How much will the conversion cost me(without the cost of engine and tranny)?
also with any of the vette engine i will be fine with a t56 tranny right?

Any LS motor will work. Hinsonsupercars.com sells a mount kit. Expect it to run about 10-12K for the swap (if you do it your self) and more if you pay someone else to do it.

Just about any small block will work its all about how much you want to put into it. The car has a big enough transmission tunnel that space there wont be a problem. I have a 87 that I'm converting my old school 1990 chevy roller engine into I'm going carb though tring to save some money.

As stated above, the F-body (Camaro / Trans Am) have the best setup for this swap. there are 3 reasons for this -
1. The oil pan has a rear sump on this motor. That means you won't have to buy Camaro oil pan if you got a corvette motor.
2. The alternator, A/C compressor, and P/S pump are set up low and wide on the corvette, so those would need to be changed to the Camaro style serp belt setup. Score 2 Camaro, 0 Corvette
Again, as stated above 99 and up motors are a bit more desirable, because the piston design changed a bit, and there is less piston slap...
3. Price. What sounds more expensive Camaro, or Corvette?

if i only had 3-5k and a non running car that i needed running soon of course rotary, since its gonna take a lot more than that and more time to do the ls1 swap... But if i had the time to wait and save i'd go ls1
p.s. there is nothing wrong with with 98 ls1's are not bad its just the ecu you dont want

And OP, sure the engine is 3-5K, but then you need the mounting kit, wiring harness modified, driveshaft modified or buy one already done, misc crap, etc etc..it all adds up I'm trying to price out a swap for if I sold my current power plant and my S13 lol

I'm likin the thought of the lsx just for the simple reason on parts if you need them. I get tired of buying FD parts just to wait a few days to get them. When you can go to any auto parts store and pull the parts right off of the shelf. Ive looked around for the cradles and needed sub structure to do the conversion. Did you find any person or company that your going to go with. How much can one sell the un needed parts on the FD for cash toward the conversion. I messaged a few ppl and found that they bought the car with the lsx or paid somone to do so. Thoughts?

Do you not read the ******* rules? This is a subsection for other engine conversions. Rotary purity and all that crap can stay out of this section. This forum section was created for a reason. Leave.

Nobody reads the ******* rules.....
Hate.

******* ********.
If you want to keep your front end light, keep in mind the ls swap is roughly 70lbs heavier than the rotary. Iron block is going to be significantly more than that. Still fun to drive but that's up to you and something to take into consideration.
You wont know until you look.
Do research on the ls motors and drivetrans FIRST.
Then shop around and see what you can get for the lowest price possible.
If i went by what people said **** was going to cost, i would have just bought a civic..... Seriously.
I was told $10k to do my supra swap. Then $6k. Then $5k seemed reasonable, Now i've got it down to about $3k total to do the swap not including new fluids, timing belt, water pump, sparkplugs, paint and seafoaming....... Oh yeah, and new wires to replace whatever is left over from the fc harness.....
You just gotta shop around and research ON YOUR OWN. B/c you're going to get different answers because not everyone does things or thinks the same way. If anything you'll get so confused or turned off that you'll say "**** it" and drop it.
Treat the swap like a girl you want to bang. Dont ask all your friends..... Just do it and brag about it after it's done.

Now, i am torn between a sbc and a supra motor.
My buddy has an lt1 camaro and it seriously hauls ***. It takes no effort to make it fly or roach tires.
He's selling his motor for $600 (found them on cl and ebay for around $500 and im' sure they're even cheaper from a pick and pull)
Also found T5 transmissions can be had for $350-1000 depending on what it came out of and what has been done to it.
So the people telling you 15k to do the swap are full of ****. Grannys built a v8 7 with a $2k budget. People are RETARDED when it comes to pricing **** and will just expect you to drop your pants and take an *** raping.
LS1 motors are a wee bit more expensive.
Does anyone know the weight difference between the two. LS has aluminum block, LT is a boat anchor iron block. Are internals/manifolds swappable and are the mount locations the same?
I'm cheap and i like power on the cheap so i'm thinking of going the v8 route and taking the hate from the rotards. I want a fun car to drive that i dont have to worry about blowing up, overheating, running out of gas.........those sorts of things.
Now if you put a nasty gargle cam on a v8, then your gas mileage becomes questionable but the power gains are tremendous!

93 Z28 w/383 stroker, cam, and heads
I have a 93 Camaro Z28 with a fairly built LT1. The car has been wrecked in the rear, and hasn't been registered in 5 Years.
I found a 94 RX7 Rolling Chasis with no engine for 6.5k.
I have no plans of trying to fix my camaro or pay back registration. Wanted to know if anyone had any good opinions of whether or not I should try and attempt this?

-yes the swap is worth every penny.
There is a ton of misinformation about the swap -that link will provide real answers from people that have done the swap -many times.
If you do it go LS -the prices have come down quite a bit.
