Hey everyone,

Wondering if anyone out there has a set of 17x8 +35 Enkei RPF1s on their FD? I know there are multiple pics of RPF1s on FDs, but I'm looking for 17x8 +35.

Even If someone has a picture of that specific wheel. It would be much appreciated!

I would try another fitment.

Your stock wheels are 8 inches wide. Why would you only want an 8 in wide aftermarket wheel.

RPF1 fitments that work without destroying your fenders:

Conservative 17 in set up that will fit Stoptech brakes:
17x8.5 + 40 Front (Will fit Stoptech brakes if you are thinking about them in the future)
17x9.5 + 38 Rear

Aggressive 17 in set up that will NOT fit Stoptech brakes
17x9 +45 Front
17x10 + 38 Rear

Conservative 18 in set up (I would assume that this would fit Stoptech brakes but I don't know)

18x8.5 +40 Front
18x9.5 +38 Rear

Aggressive 18 in set that will fit Stoptech brakes:

18x9.5 +45 in Front
18x10 +38 in Rear

Fitments that allow you to rotate wheels from front to rear:
18x9.5 +45 Front and Rear (Will clear Stoptech brakes)
17x9 +45 (Will not clear stoptech brakes)


I hope this helps...and do not put a 17x8 +35 on your FD. There are a few sets of correctly sized RPF1s currently in the Wheel and Tire classifieds...

I'd have to agree with your assessment. The only reason I went with 17x8.5 was so I could rotate my tires, and have them last longer. There is also a big step up in price when going from 17" to 18" tires.

I'm now looking for a pair of 17x9.5 or 17x10 for my rears.

I have already purchased these wheels and they are on their way. I agree that the 17 9 would fit much nicer, but I have tires to fit a 17x8 wheel and don't really want to go much bigger than that. I purchased these from tirerack.com and they ensured a perfect fit. if they don't I will be very upset.

All I was looking for was a picture, that's all.

18x9+'s are definatly in the future. I plan on using the 17x8's on my Mazda 6 when I'm ready to go bigger. But for now, I'll stick with these. Was never really a big wheel lover anyway.

Just want to get an Idea wht they look like that's all. A friend had said the spokes are more pronounced on the 17x8s. Although, all I see pictures of are pretty much flat straight across. The picture in the description on tirerack is completely flat.

mine are 17s with the wider profile. I dont think you would even be able to see/tell the difference if I didnt tell you.

I know the spokes change going from the 17" to 18", but didnt know that the width changed the spokes at all.

What size tire do you have? The fitment is decent but not "perfect". It will work depending on tire size. Are you still on stock suspension?

Hi Rishie,

I Have Hankook 235/40/17 Tires. I just wanted to have a set of wheels to make use of these brand new tires. I really didn't want to go with a wider wheel initially, because of the tires. I have '99 Spec wheels on it now. I'm happy with the width and fitment. I'll feel it out over time and if I'd like to go bigger, I'll go bigger. I don't want to modify the car in any way other than something that can be reversed. I don't plan on racing it or driving it hard so.... I have a heavily modded supra for that!..haha

Just been lurking here for ~10 years and just have been learning from the experts like you. I still remember the SleepR1 fitment.

I almost purchased a set of RPF1s but I ended up with a set of 17x9 +45 and 17x10 +45 Blitz Type 01. I had to go with the rare old school fitment for now. Plus they fit Stoptechs!

This thread should also confirm that people should buy wheels through Rishie over the tirerack. The tirerack does not know FD wheel fitment like Rishie. Not only that but Rishie's pricing is MUCH better.

Thanks Andrew. Haha, ya the Sleeper fitment, good ol' Manny. And the Cooper fitment 18x10 +52 baby. Those guys have paved many a paths for the FD community. Since they retired from the board I couldn't use the "code names" anymore. People are like, huh, cooper, sleep wut???

OK so Matt here's the various concerns I have with your proposed setup. I'm probably missing some logic behind it but I'll point out the obvious.

1. 235/40/17 is too short for FD tire diameter imho. I would check the load rating on the tire as well. you would have been better running a taller than stock 235/45/17 like the 99 spec fitment.

2. Not sure why you're going from 99 spec to this setup. I'd personally get spacers for the 99 spec so they are more "flush" and keep a 235/45 and 255/40 or get a 275/40 rear.

The only real thing I don't like is the tire diameter for the front. It's probably just me being picky but it's gonna look funny.

That's like Mazdaspeed Protege/Acura RSX/Civic type tire diameter.

In short I don't think you will have rubbing issues with that tire diameter up front so you should be safe.

To justify my setup...

Stock FD wheels 16x8 with 225/50/16 Tires
Setup when my wheels arrive 17x8 with 235/40/17 tires
( I know you know this already haha..)

Calculating the Wheel diameter in each case gives you:

16x8 225/50/16 = 20.43 in
17x8 235/40/17 = 20.69 in

17x8 235/45/17 = 21.04 in

So the logic behind my choice is more accurate spedometer readings, use of an otherwise useless set of tires, and a wheel that I like in a width that I am comfortable with. haha...

Just out of curiosity, what would a set of 17x8 RPF1s shipped to canada cost from you? In the future I may decide to go with a bigger setup. What would you recommend in the RPF1 with tires?

If I decide to go bigger, I will not be using these tires on the new setup. I will transfer the complete wheel to another one of my cars. Most likely the Mazda 6.

ok sounds good and it's refreshing to know you've calculated and researched this.

For the mazda6, depending on year I guess, but you will probably need the 17x8 +45 offset or will roll fenders.

As for the FD with stock fenders the 9.0 +45 all around, or the stagger with 9.5 +38 in the rear.

Who knows what prices may be in the future with the way the exchange rate is to yen. Let me know when you are ready and rest assured I will gladly get you a better fitment at a better value.

I just shipped a set of RPF1's with tires to Canada and it was cheaper than tirerack. Plus my packaging is way way better. I actually buy a box to conceal the whole tire/wheel pkg.

Wheels came in today. Mounting the tires tomorrow. I'll post some pics when I get them on the car. The offset is perfect and they fit excellent.

Ok... So, Got the tires mounted this morning and took the car out fo the garage for the first time all winter. Got snap happy so here are a few nice pics of the wheels. I couldn't be happier!!

















Don't mind the bad leather in the last one. The new covers should be here in a week or so. I had to return them because they used the wrong leater, so a new set should be arriving shortly!

The 9.5 +45 wheel is only available in 18 inch format.
