I just got a set of these coilovers. I would really like to read the setup manual if anyone has a copy. I think it was only ever available in Japanese but I know people who can help and also can use OCR and online translation tools to make it work.

If anyone knows any of the details especially with a pdf copy of the manual could you please help. I'm not sure if its OK or not to adjust the shock absorber length using the bottom mount section where the remote tank is mounted. Without the manual I'm not sure if that is intended or not, or even how far its OK to unwind it without risk of it coming loose if it is OK to adjust the shock length.

I know I can use preload on the helper spring to adjust ride height but I would like to make use of the length adjustment if it is possible to do that on these so I can keep heaps of droop travel.

i dont know about those, but the regular ohlins have you set the preload, and then set the height with the other adjustment. the instructions are just the starting point.

My car uses factory Spirit-R Type A Wheels with RE-11 235 45 R17 front and 255 40 R17 tyres.

I have also tested factory Spirit-R Type A Bilstein shocks, and FEED Pro F-09 18kg/mm coilovers. The FEED's were absolutely amazing on the winding road and for direction changes but the rates were just slightly too much for bad surfaces. They were seriously fast and easy to use throttle modulation to steer the car.

I've heard the Ohlins ride baller too but I've only fitted the rears as yet. I'm hoping for something slightly more compliant than the FEED's for better overall grip. My worry is that it will feel spongey as the 2 way ohlins are only 14kg/mm front and rear.

After driving 18kg/mm front and rear I don't know why anyone would think 10kg/mm and 8kg/mm is the maximum usable suspension rate.

For adjusting height, you don't need the manual.

It's very simple, calculate how much preload you need by measuring total damper travel, sprung weight, and motion ratio. This is just to make sure the rod piston sits in the middle position when car is at rest. Then adjust the preload with shock off the car using the upper spring perch.

Then use the lower mount to adjust the height after it's installed on the car (essential you are adjusting the shock body length)

I don't want to think about that haha.

The #1 reason why I want the manual is because I'm not sure its OK to adjust the shock aborber length on this model, as there is obviously fluid contained in the lower mount as the remote tank is attached to it.

Secondary questions are what Ohlins suggested alignment settings, ride height settings, compression and rebound settings.

First and foremost I want to know if its OK to unwind the bottom mount.

we have some DFV ohlins on the race car (a miata), and it seems to ride really well, it also soaks up bumps without upsetting the chassis, AND it handles great.... miata is like 13/8 spring rates (we're not dialed yet)

I'm doing an autocross style event tomorrow. And I have a Gopro Hero3+ Black, and suciton mount so I will get some footage and upload it.

I'm getting a feel for these coilovers now and I am loving them. I may sell these to get DFV's (possibly with a higher spring rate like 14kg/mm or even 16kg/mm) just so I can race in a lower class.

did you ever find out if you could adjust the shock absorber lenght via the lower mount or did you need to play around with preload and helper spring to get right ride height? I have a set of these too and really want to lift the height of the car.
