Paint & Body shops in the Plano (or Dallas), TX area
Would anyone recommend a good and trust worthy paint and body shop in Plano or Dallas Texas area?
I am planning to re-spray my RX7's body & engine bay. It was originally RED, previous owner sprayed white and I want to keep it white.
I have checked 3 different places with quotes $6.5k, $10k, to $12k. Aren't these quotes high?
Aslo, it is good to strip/sandblast it to bare metal first? this would add addition $2k to the cost
Thanks!

From my experience, a quality paint job is going to cost you a good bit of money. You will have to ask yourself what level of quality you want. If you are looking for a show quality paint finish, you will pay a premium. it takes time to strip, prep, paint, and buff for that level of depth and shine that a show quality paint delivers. if you want that level, check out Stuarts, New Concepts, or Details Limited.
For a more everyday paint job, it will still cost you a bit of money but may be considered more reasonable. I have had great personal experiences with Lone Star Collision and The Body Shop (McKinney location).
If you want cheap, go Maco because any cheap paint job will have to be redone after a few years so don't waist your money.
you might save some money by prepping and buffing yourself. talk with local shops to see if they would work with you on that level.

Thank you for the recommendations. I will check them out.
Before I post here, I did check out these shops:
I actually ran by New Concept Autoworks first because it is about 10 minutes from where I live and was quoted $12k. After about 10 - 15 minutes conversation with the owner, I have feeling that he was not very sincere nor interested in take on a 1993 RX7 project.
I heard a lot of good thing about Lone Star. I contacted them and they sounded very professional and friendly, unfortunately they do not do full body respray or restoration (Not that the car need much or any repairs). They mainly focus on collision side of the business. And Jennifer said (her exact words): "please – say no to Maaco"
I stopped by Hickman Creation in Gunter (about 30 miles north of where I live), Keith has several corvettes and classic mustangs in the shop. The works seemed very good (then again, I am no experts in judging) and he seems nice and spent time to explain and plan the works that he would do. Big shop maybe over 15,000 SQFT warehouse type of shop.
I also hit Repos Garage (auto body shop, vehicle repossessions, hot rods & customs) in Denton, Justin is great guy, He explained what needs to be done, how he would do to avoid spending extra money on rubber weather seals/strips and all. But his quote went up as we talked during which I did NOT add any more request.
I do not mind to spend the money and obviously the lower the cost the better, but it is a bit hard to drop 10k to some shop that I have no experience with before or the shop does not seem to care / want my business ...

I would recommend Details, LTD. Only place I will take a car for body or paint work. Ron is the owner and Justin pretty much runs the place. They are top notch and certainly charge for it but these guys are as honest as they come in that industry. I actually plan on getting my car resprayed there once I have the money set aside.
