Need a Favor from any FD owners (DFW)...

I'm having a wierd AC issue with my car.

Went thru the troubleshooting routine and the AC system works (clutch on AC compressor engages) when I jump the relay.

However, my car can't seem to tell the relay to turn on.

Also, since the rebuild my LED light on the dash never lite up. We thought that it was due to the fact that there was no pressure in the system. However now that the system is charged and I can jump the relay...that eliminated any issues there.

So the problem has to be from the ECU, wiring or switch itself.

I just had to many things done to the car to tell. I had a new wiring harness put in. The HVAC taken apart to get the front carbon fibered. And also some water in the relay area from the car sitting.

I have replace the switch itself, replaced all of the fuses in the relay but still a no go.

I was wondering if I could barrow for 2 secs someones working HVAC panel to plug in to mine to see if there is something in the board itself of my system to eliminate that as a cause...

I know its a big favor....I can come over and remove it pretty quickly and do all of the wrenching. Thanks!

What are you doing this weekend Bob? I'm heading out to Sneaky Pete's on lake Lewisville tomorrow afternoon but after that or all day Sunday you could have my car. Give me a call and let me know.

It's no problem. Are you still off McKinney or Lemmon? If so, my house is 10 minutes away.

I think the light should come on whenever the button is pressed, no matter what. On the ecu plugs 1E if for the A/C Input and 1L is the A/C Relay.

Have you thought about the pressure switch? I have my old one here (Addison) and I know it worked before the swap. I can't use it since I have to run the GM pressure switch so if you want to try that, it's yours.

Sunday would probably be a better day for me. Not sure when I'll be back over by my place tomorrow.

Probably just gonna be doing stuff around the house if you'd wanna stop by.

you mean the pressure switch by the battery??? I jump the relay and checked the switch and all seems to work. I went thru the trouble shooting with Damon and the physical system seems to be ok....it just seems to be the electrical.

About the light coming on no matter what...I know and thats what has me stumped. Do you think its something in regards to the wire from the ECU? I swapped my PFC out with the stock ECU and still no light. The main wiring harness was replaced....could it be something there?

Cavellm, thanks for your help and letting me do a temporary transplant of the HVAC unit into my car.

It looks to be a wiring issue. When we plugged in Cavell's unit the AC light still did not turn on nor the AC clutch engage.

Yeah, didn't rain at all while I was there from 2:30-8:00 or so. Sun came and went but it was warm and not terribly crowded. Definitely can't wait until the next weekend I have free to head up there!
