TX Back in the game...

Back in the game. As some of you that browse the Houston craigslist ads know, there was someone in the Alvin area selling two FC chassis. I bought them this weekend.

One is a 1986 Base Model in 8/10 condition overall. The other is a 1990 GXL in 4/10 condition. We will see how this goes...wish me luck! haha

I planned on building the 1986 for track duty only, but the maroon interior is exceptionally clean. I'm not sure I want to cage a rare, slick top, light weight car. Cars will be at Apex Auto Works in Alvin for most of the cage, safety, and suspension work. Richard Tomlin has helped me build a few cars including my SCCA B Spec Yaris last year. More info and pictures of the cars later.

Thanks!

I did notice those on craigslist a while back. I bought a blue FD that was on there around the same time. Nice purchase, I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with them.

THANKS!

I finally started renting out some storage space for all these spare parts. Driving back and forth from Spring to Alvin, and back to Spring. Seats, wheels, interior, A/C, etc. I will start posting FS threads soon!

Looks like the Ol' Blue is going to be built for my Dad! He always wanted to race Formula Mazda with me, so I've decided to build him a car he can have fun with on track days and local events. Many years ago I traded him my FD for an S2000. I was young, poor and couldn't afford the maintenance and upgrades. So of course, he wants TURBO! Luckily, my spare parts that came with the cars included a S4 TII trans, driveshaft, diff, and axles. Just confirmed this yesterday.

The white car, which is originally gold, will be mine and I plan to stay NA. Looking over the engine parts the previous owner had in plastic tubs, not much can be reused Ol' Blue didn't have a motor in the bay, so I'm guessing it is from that car. The rotors should be fine and they are machined which confirms S5 NA. Time to pull the motor out of the white car and hope for the best...

That's a tough commute, my FD is also in Spring atm, at least I'm coming from memorial though. Do you and your dad ever make it out to MSR? I may try to go at some point this year. Good luck with the build, hope to see you at the track sometime!

I've been racing with SCCA since 2007, so I'm definitely familiar with MSR haha.
