Salutations,
I've just moved in Austin for work and want to know what's going on around Texas. I miss my friendly 7's.
I've loved rotaries for last 16 years. Most of that time was spend on this forum or day dreaming. I had an 86 friends and I swapped to TII and am just about ready for an FD.
What's your story? What's going on in the area? What're you working on right now? Plans?

Can't seem to get pics to upload from my mobile. The rx7 I just bought yesterday. Have not picked it up yet. Its,an 87 t2 complete with some aftermarket goodies but been sitting since 2012. May put it back on the road if it runs, well if it needs a rebuild I will steal the motor for my beetle and build it. If I steal the engine I will either part out the car, sell as a whole or v8 swap. Idk yet.

I'm in Austin. I have a black FD. I have seen a red FD in Austin twice in the 4 years I have lived here, and a black one on Lime Creek (definitely check out this road for weekend twisty driving). Not many 7s around here though.

Well I just moved here but I've already gotten in touch with an FD owner in Cypress (outskirt of Houston) and one in San Antonio. We've got to regroup!

It would be fun to see some more RXs. I have a lightly modded N/A FC that I only drive on nice days (like today), but I very rarely see any other rotaries on the road any more. This thread reminded me that we used to have an active club in town, Texas RXs. I hit their web site and surprisingly it is still around but it sounds like the rotary numbers are pretty low and they do stuff with the Miata club and other groups.

Awesome! I just found them actually. So today I bought by FD roller. I'm an avid RX7 fan. I hope to round up the strays get just something going on a regular basis. Meetups, garage days, etc.

Sorry to thread jack but I happened to see this. I'm at the end of a big long term fc build and am looking for someone in Austin to get it driveable so I can put some miles on it prior to taking it to the dyno.
Anyone hidden rotary dudes in Austin that want to make some money? I know zero car people here.
Sorry to thread jack.
PS WOULD LIKE TO MEET WEIRD ROTARY FOLK IN AUSTIN

Just bought my first FD. 1993 R1, 1 owner, all stock minus the radio. Will be delivered in a week. I'm in the North Austin area. Also looking for a rotary mech if anyone knows of a shop that can handle it. Hate to take it to Dallas if/when it needs some work.

Very nice man. What color? I'll keep an eye out as I am in north austin also. I have a black 1994 R2 and a red RX8.
As far as mechanics go we're outta luck. MZM performance used to do rotary stuff apparently but I think they're gone. John Long automotive specialist also doesn't do anything in depth like rebuilds these days. If only Chris Ott would bring the RP crew down to the central texas area...

Guess there's not many of us Austin folks here, but I just picked up a low mileage 85 GSL-SE. I'm a member of Capital Z of Texas, a Datsun Z car club here in a Austin, but it'd be cool to bullshit with some rotary people.
