60-1 .96 p trim vs panspeed/bnr stage 3 FC

Picked up a parts car that came with a tubular exhaust manifold, hks external wastegate, and a 60-1 turbo. after looking more at it I noticed turbonetics all over it but has a stock chra (center section). Exhaust wheel and turbine housing is p trim .96.

Currently running a panspeed(bnr stage 3). Is it worth it to run this? Power gains? Spool time affected?

i do live in cali so the hybrid turbo is under the radar for the police so if gains are minimal, id stay with the hybrid turbo

Compared to the 60-1 P trim on T4 tubular manifold, the BNR Stage 3 will probably spool slower if it is a S4 based unit and spool about the same or maybe slightly better if it is S5 based unit. If everything else is equal (intake, exhaust, etc).

The non hybrid turbo should have a touch more top end power because of the larger exhaust wheel and the larger compressor housing cover.
The T04B HiFi cover that fits TII lower intake manifolds on a stock TII manifold flows 10% less than the same 60-1 wheel in the larger compressor cover.
Its like 390rwhp vs 430rwp max and with the larger exhaust wheel the non hybrid turbo will keep torque up longer after torque peak.

In reality, everything attached to the turbos will make as much or more difference than the turbos themselves because they are really quite similar.

If you do free up flow with a good IC, intake and exhaust the non hybrid turbo set-up should hold low boost (less boost creep) much better with the external wastegate if it is on a decent manifold design.

Post pics of the two set-ups.

Current addons are: s5 based panspeed/Bnr stage 3 turbo, Rebuilt s5 t2 stock ports, Greedy fmic, apexi pfc, 3" all the way back, hks mushroom intake with a 3" intake, and have some water injection I haven't hooked up yet.

thanks for those comparisons blue. I usually read through your posts since you have good knowledge to share.

The 60-1 turbine is undivided but has a divided type exhaust manifold it mates too. I'll try looking for a replacement turbine housing, divided and maybe a .84?

Car is occasionally tracked for drift, so earlier spool is a big thing for me right now as I usually drive my buddies sr20s which are more torquey which helps for clutch kicks.

Stick with your S5 Setup. It's FAR superior. An undivided T4 with 60-1 is a pig... A/R being 0.96 is damn near S5 which is 1.00 A/R on the same P-Trim turbine.

Shameless plug, but I have a 1.0 divided housing for a 60-1 turbo (p trim) with less than 6k miles for sale.

Though I had posted pics on the FS section a while ago, but cant find them. The housing is at my pops place, will get pics no later than Sunday. The housing is a Garrett unit, it came with the turbo when I bought it years ago.

Oh, this isn't an IWG unit. Nevermind.
