Wiring for gauges on the E6K...

The car runs great with the Haltech on my APEXi single. BUT the only gauge I can get to work is my fuel tank gauge.

The entire wiring harness was cut at the engine bay.

I've wired the coolent temp sensor and oil temp sensor wires but no results. When the key is on but the engine not started I get readings on the coolent temp and odometer but they all disappear when the engine is started.

The tach doesn't seem to like the 12V feed from the Haltech. It's hard to drag race when I can't see the redline.

Somebody help me.

your problem is that you cut the engine harness...you shouldnt of done that. i wired my E6K with the some fo the stock harness left in it..all my gauges still work

Do you still have the stock ECU in place also?

I can rewire the engine harness stuff without a problem.

I think the problem with the gauges is that they need a separate power feed that I can't find the wiring diagram for.

Cheuk, the stock sensors for oil pressure and coolant only have an input into the gauge cluster. The only problem is I believe they run through the harness that goes to the stock ECU.

I can see two viable options for your situation. First is to find the output [wire] from the sensor and run it to the back of the gauge cluster itself. Second option is to reconnect part of your stock harness to make the sensors work.

I am in Kansas right now so I do not have my notes, car, or manuals with me to explain exactly what to do. Maybe later this week I can look at a couple things and let you know an easy way to do this.

If you would have followed the directions on my website you would not have had this problem

Damn,

I didn't know you had a write up on the wiring. I ran the wires for the oil and coolant to where I cut them and they work only when the engine is keyed on but not started.

I will try to plug in the ECU and see if it will work then.

How are you running your tach?
