What's the question? MetalCast in my experience holds up very well.

How does it look?

I was hoping for pics since this is the non technical and picture thread but i should have specified.

I've seen your wheels. They turned out great.

Was your engine metalcast? That red is the f-ing business. It's so loud!

I'm looking for alternatives to having my wheels chromed (unsprung weight....hydrogen embrittlement...voiding my lifetime structural warranty....etc.) and i may end up spending hours polishing them until my fingers fall off. I want bright and shiny but basic colors. Like a bright metallic gloss gold/yellow or silver/chrome.

My wheel are actually painted with HardNose Black from the POR-15 company. I brushed it on so there are some flaws, but overall it came out very well and has held up well (even some curbing). If it was sprayed I would expect it to lay down like glass, and the nice thing is that it is an easy touch up. The paint is very tough and almost impossible to chip. I did a test where I painted some tube and then beat the crap out of it with a hammer for about 5 minutes and the paint barely had a mark on it.

Yes, all the red on my engine is MetalCast red. Though it has acquired a few chips over the years, and faded very slightly, it still looks great.

Ah yeah.... That crazy shit you painted most of the unseen exterior of your car with....

Could that double as concrete sealer for a shop floor? Probably?

Thanks for the response on the engine being metal cast.

Need input on how it reacts to uv light though. You know....the sun.....

This is Metalcast on the AEM intake and the GTspec bar. Yes it's an my old RX8.
I love the paint.
It holds up to heat very well. But I think it's a bit brittle, as in rock chips. Might want to clear coat it. All in all I have used this paint many times on many different applications. I like it.

I also did my emblems on the RX8. It faded over about a 8 month period here in Arizona. Car was garaged.
But AZ sun is brutal.

Actually, yes. Grey POR-15 with a bit of sand mixed in would be an awesome concrete floor coating.

I would expect as well as any other spray paint. High heat will fade it though.

JoeCrappa, i can't remember what i ate for breakfast thismorning let alone whose threads i posted in from like a year ago.

I remember the car. I wish i could have seen the wheels/paint in person.

That has a pearl/flake coat though. It's not the same as just "lets make it look like it's gold plated or chrome plated or just raw metal" it does look hot shit though!

http://innate.com/Paint/Chrome/PrismaFec.htm

So does this. I need to stop logging into the forum so often. It gives me ideas on how to spend more money than i should on my car.
