San Diego County Cruise - December 13th

We've got another drive coming up next month, the weekend after the regular monthly meeting. Basic info is below. More details to follow.

Date: Sunday, December 13, 2009
Place: Safari Coffee Roasters
Time: 9:30 am; driver’s meeting at 10:00 am
Depart: 10:15 am (sharp)

Directions to departure point:
- Safari Coffee Roasters (http://safaricoffee.com/Findus.htm)
- 1012 West El Norte Parkway, Escondido
- (Ref Thomas Guide, dtd 1999 – plate 1109:F6)
- Phone: 760.740.9575
- They are located off the I-15 Freeway. Take El Norte Parkway, head west and turn right into the first driveway. You will see them straight ahead,
to the left of Vons.

If you were interested in the drive I noted in the thread for our November meeting, this is the one. Had a few requests and wanted to give more time for people to plan, so the date was shifted a bit. Hope that works out for everyone. We've done this route before and I think you'll like it - one of our shorter /quicker ones. More details later.

I have attached an overview map, with elevation profile, to give you an idea of the drive. Don't be too concerned about the steep ascents or descents, it's a little aberration on the map scale. I will be checking the route out some time over the next few weeks.

BTW,
Great to see the new faces at the November meeting.

Just two more weeks until the cruise. Will have more details available next weekend, but here is the latest at the link below.
http://where-yat.net/sdrxc/Next-Drive.htm

I just covered the route this afternoon and everything looks good. Should be great fun!

In case you're interested, I have attached a ZIP file with a route file for Google Earth. It is a ".kmz" type. If you have Google Earth installed, just unZIP the file and double click on it. You can "fly" the route if you use the built-in player.

See ya next Saturday at the monthly meeting.

Don't forget the drive on December 13th.

All the latest information is posted at the link below. Links to maps and Google Earth files are provided. Check the lunch location.
http://where-yat.net/sdrxc/Next-Drive.htm

There may be a couple of spots where the expected rain will impact us, but we'll just take it slower. Be sure to bring a GMRS /FRS radio if you have one.

I am sure we'll get through the drive in enough time to catch the latter part of the Chargers' game.

See ya next Sunday.

Not going to make it

Guys, I would love to make this, as it would probably be my last before I move to Japan; however, I think the inclement weather will keep me away. I plan to take advantage of the downtime by putting the car up on jacks and swapping turbo kits (going to something smaller and more responsive).

Enjoy the drive, but be safe!!!

POSTPONMENT of Drive on 12/13

Well, looks like everyone already figured it out for themselves. The rain will not let this happen.

Projected new date is January 10th.

See complete announcement at link below.

Yea. I hated to cancel, but some of the roads were on the east side of the hills - less likely to dry out in time. Probably still wet and covered with debris.

BTW, did you get your work done early? You indicated that you had a deadline for Monday.
