Mazdaspeed Scoop...what's it worth???
I'm wondering what the part is worth, how rare is it really? I never see any for sale or any pics of any on current rides.
I've had it sitting in storage for a while now and may or may not get around to actually using it?

I was originally going to keep my 89 vert red and paint my S4 sunburst red TII hood S5 blaze red...including the MS scoop of course. My father picked up a new vert and now owns his new red one and his old black one. I'm thinking about swaping all my 13B-T stuff into my father's black vert and buy it off him. I kind of like his minimalist N/A hood and am thinking about going FMIC.

Obviously the value is mostly subjective, hell I saw it for sale and jumped on it. But two years later and all it's doing is taking up space.

I personally think it's a very good looking scoop. Ken from Shine Auto did a test fit on their FC a while back, before he sold the scoop to Vipers, iirc. There might still be pictures floating around if you want to see how it looks on a car.

It looks like it would grab more air, but the opening on the TMIC side is no larger so I don't know that there is a benefit??

I ask because my other hobby is watercooling and overclocking my computers. In that hobby there are many who want to be on the cutting edge of keepign their rigs cool. They'll spend lots making changes to their cooling that only has a real world effect of 1-2 degrees. I'm simply not pushing the limits so much that 1-2 degrees cooler really affects anything in real world terms. Sure you get some props on the forums for making it a smidge cooler, but there comes a point for me where the cost doesn't match the reward.
With that little story aside. How much have you seen heat soak affect your driving and car?
Your using or did use an HKS TMIC? I'd love to pick your brain about heat soak and such. I've had my hands full just trying to keep the car running so I haven't spent anytime reading about heat soak and TMIC or FMIC and VMIC pros and cons. So my question may be premature and newbish. How much does heat soak affect performance for cars who's application isn't tweeking the most possible out of it?

oh nice i also oc and watercool my pc *cpu & gpu volt modded swiftec mc355 pump and Bonneville heater core =) *. I couldnt tell you much about the top mount because it came with the car and i never experienced the stock one and have yet to track the car. http://i36.tinypic.com/ofosuw.jpg
Gigabyte ep45-ud3p
Q8400
Sapphire 4850x2
Antec Truepower Quattro1000w
I've got a swiftech D4 pump, a Dtek Fuzionv2 cpu block, and a HWlabs 360 radiator.
I haven't gotten into w/c my video cards or messing too much with voltage. I had to change voltage with my 805 chip to get it up to3.8Ghz but other than that I've left voltage alone. Hell I haven't even started clocking my Q8400. The stock settings combined with the 4850x2 are sooo much faster than my last rig that I haven't felt a need to yet.
Right now I'm focusing on finishing my case mods before I add some more RAM.
The man that helped him build the car, GuitarJunkie28 (Dave), passed away 3 months after SS9, when vipers won the best FC award. The car had a fuel rail leak and caught fire on the way home after a tuning session, shortly before his death. With him gone, he couldn't bring himself to repair the car, so he ended up parting with it, one piece at a time. I still miss that car
We should form a club- albeit a very specialized and limited one- composed of people with remnants of Viper's car who also watercool their PCs.
I bought Viper's carbon fiber rad cooling panel and have been watercooling since the days when you dealt with folks like Cathar instead of Swiftech.
The CF panel has been sitting since I made it's replacement (didn't need the holes for the overflow tank or AC dryer) and I've recently considered selling it...wonder if it had extra value due to it's fabled background?

Are either you or Hypertek on Xtremesystems forums? Somebody on there uses a rotor as their avatar.
