3mm solid cornner seals

might change a little but thats what im thinking ^^

i also figured out that i have a "cheater box"
but 15-16 psi of boost is way to much for that
previous owner was running 20 psi on it then changed it to 10

probably why its blown

You absolutely can re-use parts if they are in spec. Just follow the FSM. I think Mazda knew what was acceptable as far as tolerances and wear limits.

Don't run 3mm apex seals, from what I've read they don't even work and are no where near the money. Even if they were if you're running on low boost you won't need them. Have you looked into the 2mm super seal? Or if you're running real low boost stock will be more then sufficient.

i talked to atkins and i think im going with 3mm. the groves are pretty worn out. dan said its best to start over with the 3mm seals. because the 2 piece apex seals were trying to fit into the three piece's worn slots. is what he said

^In the end it may be cheaper to just buy newer rotors. Machine work breaks the pocket...then again I have 3mm seals too

Clean lookin car. Good to see another knowledgeable person with a 7.

my dads bussniess partner and best freind owns a machine shop. he is very good and can machine the rotors for us.. we help each other out.
how are you going to know if the rotors are newer? probably can't.. think i will go 3mm route before i buy new ones.

Question
best street port templates for intake?
best template for exhaust?
Atkins says they use racing beats streetport template for intake.
opinions?

Everyone here that I know that has done their own rebuilding and streetporting has used the Racing Beat templet for intake, and the Rineapple Racing EP3 or Racing Beat for exhaust. The Mazdatrix DVD works really well to teach you the best way to do all the porting as well.

I wouldn't trust Atkins as far as I could throw him and from what Mr. Drummond (The only certified rotary engine builder for formula Mazda) says Racing Beat's template is all wrong.

Is this car running on the stock ecu? If so, and running a aftermarket turbo that's pushing much more air into the motor as compared to the stock turbo at the same boost the air is much more dense and the ecu wont compensate for the added air since it thinks your running the stock turbo, that's more then likely why your motor went...

After your build is finished, buy a Rtek or a full standalone and get it tuned, you will be very happy and you wont blow another motor.

Bummer about the engine going boom.

I have to go across the grain and say I don't really like the wheels. Too big to start and not big on the style.

Good luck with the rebuild.

Haha. I've been there before.

As long as you like them that's all that's important. They aren't the worst I've ever seen...just not my style so much.

Keep up posted on the rebirth.

Bigger fish to fry than wheels for the moment , although 18's are a bit much for non kit'd FC's.

What did you end up deciding to do with the ports?
