about to upgrade 1.x to 2.1

do i have to get a palm device? can i just hook it up to my laptop?

has anyone redone they wiring harness? mine is kind of mangled and i want to the crispy wires like the fuel injectors.

also, is it recomended to get a full sweep tps?

any other advice would be helpful

What do you mean by crispy wires? Do you mean the insulation?

the wires are hacked.

PALM zire 71 or SONY Clie PEG-t615C , i can get both with all the accesories for 40 bucks, which is better?

The only thing to worry about the wires being crispy is if it runs now. You won't need to change any wires to get the 2.1 working only for add-ons. The good news is that if you do want to add a wideband or such, it only needs one wire at the cpu and those are usually only messed up by bad AFC installs.

IF your wires are really screwed up at the ecu then find a spare harness online and splice in new connecttors. Thats what I did and it worked great! I am eventually going to re wire my injectors as well, new connectors, and wires to the ecu.
