I originally used a Sony Clie S320, which worked fine until it I started getting NVRAM check sum errors after which the palm froze and the touch screen has never worked again. Now I use a Sony Clie S300(older model) that I bought for $25 shipped off ebay. It works great, but I wouldn't recommend using it if you have XP because you will have to download driver updates to make it work. Also the connector style on both these models is pretty weak.

The pluses are that they can be had cheap, they are common, the backlight display is nice and the battery life seems to be pretty good.

I use a Palm E2. It's a little more expensive because it's not a real old model, but I love it. The cable is a nice tight connection, and the display is awesome.
