255s on all 4 corners?

I was just talking to a forum member in person the other night about tire/wheel set ups. He had recently gone to japan for some sort of RX7 convention, and said most everyone was running 9 inch wide rims with 255s on all 4 corners, for handling reasons.

Has anyone done this or used it on the track? I plan on pushing anywhere from 380to420rwhp and obviously want rear traction, but I also don't want sacrifice handling or add too much understeer. Fender flares are not something I want to mess with but I'll roll my fenders some more if need be.

Any suggestions or direct experience with:

1) rear tire size at 400rwhp
2) rear vs front tire size and how that affects handling
3) what's your favorite combo for traction and handling?

Thanks,
ian

In the future, be sure to post what car you have, but I see from your profile that it's an FD. You can fit up to 285's under stock rolled fenders with some key mods like coilovers and some aftermarket bits in the back, this is a very popular track setup for FD owners over here.

Oh sorry, yeah it is a 95 FD with ground control coilovers.

What size Front tires do those track setups use with the 285 rears?

Anyone have an example of rim size/offset with 285s fitting with ground controls and rolled fenders?

thanks
