sway bars, RB vs ST?

I am looking for a set of sways for my FD this year at autox. Before anyone mentions it, I know the TP bar is the best. I am NOT willing to plunk down that kind of moola though.

My goals with the sways are to reduce body roll. I am perfectly happy with the way the car transitions and its cornering on street tires, though the body roll is a bit more than I'd like on street tires since its almost rubbing my fender liners on hard grippy turns. This year I will be running 275 wide v710's instead of street tires. I fully expect that the fenders will be hit even if I raise the car up a bit given how much extra grip there will be.

I am looking at the RB's, and the ST's right now. I am a bit concerned about the RB's and the bending I have read about. Are there any recent updates on this? Also, do either of these bar sets change the handling balance of the car drastically? (ie: in a way I cant easily compensate via shock adjustment or tire pressure)

In case is affects anyones suggestions, I am currently running 8k/6k Tein flex coilovers on the car. I have no desire for higher spring rate, so please approach it from that perspective

Thanks for inputs!

You look for the Tanabe sways. Those seem to be the next best after Tripoint.

I would stay away from RB bars. Do a search under my name and judge yourself. I sent my sway bars back and they took the sway bars and the money to boot. I found them very hard to deal with. I am quite sure they view themselves as gods of some sort. Not The God but a little bitty one off in a corner somewhere.

Yes, your thread and experience are my main determining factor for fearing the RB bars. The only reasons I have actually even thought of them were that I havent heard much on the front having issues, and the whole "they now have a cro-moly rear bar". That along with soooo many autoxers seem to like the RB bars. Though I suppose that could juts be because RB is kind of the default for bars around here?

What bars did you end up with? Are you happy with them?

Miatas share the same front swaybar mount issues, and if you shave your swaybar bushings to eliminate any binding then it'll drastically reduce the chances that you'll have problems. Here's Andy Hollis' STS2 Miata build entry on the subject.

Yep. However, you might check with them. I did a quick order check and they are charging $120 for shipping to my location. I doubt these bars really qualify for oversized shipping.

I ended up with Mazdaspeed sway bars I got from Ramy. Cost was higher but the quality was better as well. Are they adjustable ...not really. But they really work well for me. As for Racing Beat well they treat their customers like crap. They still owe me a refund for a set. They are just nasty people. As for Miata I would go to Flying Miata and buy anything but Racing Beat.

Has Racing Beat changed their bars maybe.....maybe not. Why change if the make "the best products around". More than likely they are still making the same old crap they sold to me.

BTW, I just order them from here:

I had been procrastinating about getting them, so this topic pushed me over the edge. It was a little under $400 shipped for both.

Tanabe Swaybars..... $153.86 each for fr and rear

http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/me...t_Code=TSB013R

i am, initially, favorably impressed w the bars. note they have shoulders to eliminate any lateral shifting. 'sure beats hose clamps

i have spoken w James in their tech dept and he knows his stuff. the front bar is up 30% V OEM and the rear is up 38% V the 94 bar.

i am purchasing the Tanabe rear bar to go w my Speedway Engineering/Tripoint front.

Any idea how much % the rear is up from stock 93? What I definatly do not want to do is increase the rear more than I do the front. I already have the ability to rotate at will, and with 370whp, I certainly need to keep in mind how to put the power down as well...

Though I must say Mr Coleman liking the tanabe's is pushing me that way :o

as you may know the 94 and 95 rear bars were softened a bit from the 93... various estimates exist for all the bars but i am skeptical as to them being acurate as none that i am aware of actually knew what the wall thickness was. my guess is that they went down 10% from 93.

that would put the Tanabe bars right around equal and you could adjust anything further w tire pressure.

BTW, Swift offers a rear solid bar that is up 21% from the 93... i don't believe they offer a front bar.

They do HC

http://swiftsprings.com/file/Stabilizer.pdf

The front bar is rated 17% higher than stock and as HC mentioned 21% higher in the rear.

I have RB bars right now, but I will be switching to Swift Bars.
