i got mine yesterday and installed in a breeze. hesitation from cruise vacuum ELIMINATED... WOOT
but i have no clue as in timing for boost based so i have the stock timing for now
now just tuning but seems to be alott easier now that stumble is gone and wider rpm range

I won't get it until friday.

Are the map based timing settings blank or are the stock settings there to work around? I'll have to see how the map is setup before I start making some changes.

I plan on setting mine up something like this:

Boost/vac-------Lead timing advanced
14__________16
13__________18
12__________19
10__________20
9___________21
8___________22
7___________23
6___________25
5___________27
4___________30
3___________32
2___________33
1___________34
0___________35
-5___________35
-10__________35
-20__________25
-25__________25
-30__________25

And split something along these lines:

0500 ... +15
1000 ... +15
1500 ... +15
2000 ... +14
2500 ... +12
3000 ... +10
3500 ... +10
4000 ... +10
4500 ... +10
5000 ... +10
5500 ... +10
6000 ... +10
6500 ... +10
7000 ... +10
8000 ... +10

But I don't know if I want to get that aggressive with the split up top.

I have to do more reading on how far advanced I can go during vac and low pressures. I'll see if I can find more base maps from other people.

If someone has a suggestion please post up!

i have a question about the staging hesitation fix.. do the secondaries now turn on above a certain load if above the staging rpm? vs positive boost like before?

From the website.
>>
The user can turn this feature on to convert the timing tables to PSI vs RPM which provides better control over timing above 10 PSI as compared to the stock Load vs RPM. This mode is NOT for beginners. It requires complete manual remapping of the timing tables as the stock tables are no longer valid. The ECU is shipped with MAP Based Timimg mode turned off, so the ECU uses the stock timing maps (Load vs RPM) which can be edited by the user.
<<

The mode only changes how the ECU does the lookup on the table. It does nothing with the map. SO if you put it in boost based timing mode, you will be reading off the load based timing map, which is not a good map for that mode.

oh i knew this well before buying it but i wanted to wait and compare my thoughts with others on timing under boost

im going to be going stage 4 bnr pretty soon and plan on pushing 15 psi.

but the afm wont allow that... so all is good for now.

I've had it for over a month now, like Mike said and I really like the upgrades.

Just a heads up though, listen to the warning on tuning using the Boost based timing option. If you do not fully understand tuning timing don't use it because the pre-loaded map is !NOT! usable, you can't just tweak it. It is only there because it's the same one used in the stock load based map.

You must create an entirely new map using stock like settings below atmospheric pressure and tuning guidelines or dyno tuning when under boost. The MAP based timing does work very well, you just have to know what you're doing.

I can say that besides my Palm sucking the Rtek 2.1 has worked very well for me so far. I have been boosting 13-14 PSI with much better response (due to the fact that I don't have to use the same timing across the board after the load was maxed at 9PSI any more) and with no detonation.

Ed

What presets are you using for the 720/1000cc injector combo? Do you happen to have a spreadsheet or something we can take a peak at for what you have so far for Boost based timing?

Grrr... I have the chip, but won't be able to put it in until tomorrow night. I'll probably build a chart on excel or something to work off of.

The Tungsten T3 is no longer on our "recommend" list. I spent a ton of time troubleshooting the random disconnects and all I can come up with is that it's an OS bug...which really wouldn't be that hard to believe if you knew how many bugs we had to patch just to get it to connect.
If you have one, I suggest you sell it on ebay and change to something else.

Wankler, are you saying you are seeing the same problems on your Palm III?

Did you guys follow the install instructions in the sticky?

How does MAP based timing get around the AFM issue? or is maxing out the AFM still a problem? Thinking in regards to BNR hybrids.

That's just great, I bought a Tungsten T3 about 3 months ago in anticipation for this 2.1 and now it's no good. WTF
