Gas Tank Questions...

I have a stock 84 gsl. It sat for 12 years and now it's running perfectly. New housings installed, and new seals all over... good running condition. One question... do the gas tanks happen to rust or corrode over time? I don't want dirty gas back there...

mine sat for two years, rust was there, unable to get it out, went to bone yard, found a decent tank, replace your fuel filter often, might break open the filter you remove and see if any rust is there, good luck

ditto. mine for 2-3 years. gas turned to orange liquid goo. main and return line full of rust and liquid goo. it mainly depends on how much gas was left in there. mine had almost 3/4 of a tank.

They do tend to rust if sitting for an extended period of time without a full tank of gas. However, the worst rust areas are on the outside of the tank. If you need one, let me know - I'll sell you a good one cheap.
