MOMO Steering Wheel Hub Adapter on the FD

Ok... so everywhere I look, it says that for the FD, you need part #5705 which is what I have right now but it does not look like it fits right unless I'm doing something wrong. Previously, the shop I ordered from gave me Part #5702 which I read is for the FC and it did not fit but it fit better than this one. There is a pretty significant gap between the adapter and the hub.

Any insight?

I am pretty confident now that I'm not doing anything wrong when installing it... it simply does not fit (there is a bit more than half an inch gap all the way around... bigger at the top) but I haven't found one source that disagrees with the claim at Part #5705 fits the 86-02 RX-7.

How hard did you have to push it on? I know it was hard to take the stock steering wheel off but I can't get it to go on any farther no matter how hard I push heh... It's kind of frustrating. Yours fits flush with the hub?

I remember using a MOMO hub for a FC on my FD. Man I don't remember the part number bro its been about 3 years. I think the box is still in the attic at one of my properties or at my parents house. I check as soon as I get a chance.

I called Momo and they said 5705 is the right part for it.

I dunno... Could it be the way my plastics sit on there? They have all the screws in them though.

weird... thats a pretty decent gap. Sure you have the adapter down all the way?

I had no problem putting mine on when I did it, about 20mins in the parking lot.

Unless you're supposed to ram a semi-truck into it, it's on there pretty good. I noticed that it doesn't hit the white turn signal piece very well (the holes line up but it doesn't go on far enough). How hard do I have to push it on?

I would return it if possible. They may not have machined it correctly, so no matter how hard you push or tighten down, it'll always be like that.

The one I have on the car didn't clear the white piece so I took a chunk out of it as well as the white piece.

Ok... still stumped.

- Part #5705 (stamped with K5705).
- Fits the splines on the steering column.
- Shaft is tapered so adapter doesn't go down far enough.
- Adapter is not parallel with the column anyway.
- Damnit?

If it's not machined correctly, I would need a way to prove it to the shop I ordered it from and I don't want to buy one off of Ebay and find I have the same problem. If someone with one of those from the guy on Ebay could post some close-ups or vouch that it is machined specifically to fit the taper or something and it does fit flush with the column, I'd order one of those and take this one back.
